Stef, just wondering how Den is doing with the physical therapy. Is he doing lots better I hope? And, how are you, ok?

    He is making some steady
He is making some steady progress especially with the speech and swallowing. He is able to eat some soft foods instead of having to puree everything. He still needs his liquids thickened but that is okay. he can take his small pills by putting them in foods and he gets them down without problem and his larger pills can be cut into several smaller pieces and he can do the same with them. This may sound small but having to crush so many pills that taste so bitter was making meals not so pleasurable even though he would do it. The only pill that we have to do that has no alternative is one capsule we have to open. But we put it in ice cream with blackberry jam and that helps. He does his speech exercises several times a day and it is helping the swallowing and his speech. Many times when he smiles both sides of his mouth go up and he says he no longer talks out of one side of his mouth. LOL The exercises for his legs are harder. His neuropathy is quite bad and so walking and standing are a challenge but he works at them to his best ability and that is what the PT wants. He has several exercises that he can do sitting down and with the use of an elastic band. It is a busy day, between visits from different people, exercises, eating, napping etc. His wound on his leg is much better and the one that formed from the tape is almost healed. We are now wrapping without taping on the leg itself. His skin is like tissue and the tape pulls at it. He has great spirit and I am so pleased with how he is doing. He goes for a check up next Thursday. I think in a couple of weeks he will be able to discontinue the home health and go to outpatient PT. I have my breast checkup on Tuesday and between us we have several appointments in August. August is my recall month for breast and my mammo time and my uterine cancer check up. And Den has a vascular ultrasound that we rescheduled coming up at the end of the month. So we are very busy, but I have to say very happy. There was a moment when I thought I was going to lose my glass but I hung on to it. For those that know me, I have always said Some say the glass is half full, some say it is half empty, me I am just glad I have a glass. Never more so than know. Thank you for asking after us. this is literally one of the hardest things I have ever been through.
Love to all my family here,
    Stef

    Dear Stef...
Am glad & relieved that your beloved Den is making steady progress. Sincerely hope all will continue to go very well for him. With best wishes for his Thursday appointment.

And I worry about you. You have much - too much! - of your own health issues right alongside everything else. Please also take good care of YOU, dear Stef. Hang on tight to your glass! Don't let go!

    Sending cyberhugs...

    Kindest regards, Susan

    Susan,
    You always seem to

    Susan,
You always seem to say just the right thing. I am doing well. I am on top of my health issues and making sure I do what I need to do to stay healthy. I am actually eating healthier and I nap during the day when Den does so that I am rested. I really appreciate the concern for both of us and will make sure that we both stay in the pink (as they say).
