Suggestion for Newbies and some Oldies

I would like to give a suggestion to some of the "newbies" as well as some "oldies" on this discussion board. It would be most helpful if everyone would post in their "About Me" page. I try to read this discussion board daily, but even then, with the amount of new people who have come on recently, it is difficult to keep everyone straight. Many times I click on their names beside their posting to refresh myself as to what their conditions, treatments, stages, etc. are, only to find that they have never filled out this part. It is easy to do, and certainly helps keeps those of us having "senior moments" up to date! Adding a picture is also easy, and I notice I tend to remember people more when there is a picture attached (I am definitely a visual learner!). I know when I first signed up I found the page a little difficult to navigate and didn't have time to really look around for these things, so I thought I would give some directions (Never have found those either!) for filling out the "About Me" profile.

To create your "About me" profile:
* When you log into CNS Home there are 4 columns across the page. The light green one that says "My CSN Account" lists "About Me page" and underneath that it says "Create/View/Edit".
* You can click on Edit and it will take you to a page that says "My CSN space" followed by an edit button. Beneath that it has tabs that say "About Me" "Picture" "Preferences" and "Survey".
* Click on the About Me tab and it will bring up questions for you to answer. In this section you can actually pick the questions you want to answer.
* When done, done forget to click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page!
* If you wish to add a picture, just click on the "Picture" tab and upload a picture from your personal files.
* If you would like to be able to receive private messages, click on the "Preference" tab and check the boxes halfway down the page that says "Private message settings". Again don't forget to click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.
* Also, if you are on the CSN home page, and click on "Create" under the red "About Me page" heading, you will see "about me", "expressions", "resources" and "blog". This is where you can get more creative and add your own personal story, blog, poem, photo, etc.

Hope this is some help, and hope to see a lot more "About Me" pages completed in the future :)
Cheryl

    Thank you
Cheryl, thanks for that post, I've been thinking the same thing myself. Often I have a hard time remembering and keeping everyone straight on here...

Also, to add to that, if you do have a profile already done, you may want to update it from time to time, as treatments and major changes occur.

    Update Post
Just read this thread and went to my profile to update. I think in the beginning I was so busy reading everyone else’s post I did not want to take the time to post or update. I also thought I did not have anything to offer anyone. I felt like I just needed help and did not have anything to offer anyone else never thought that the people on here trying to help me need to keep all of us straight. Good reminder. Thank you all for being here, you have provided so much help, kindness and compassion, words cannot express my gratitude.

    Thank You
Thank you for the reminder. I just updated mine. It is very helpful to have the profile filled out as we have so many people coming on board. I agree a photo is great and helps us know each other better.

    Rose,
    I understand

    Rose,
I understand completely how it makes you feel to see your brother like this. Rickie is now down to 138lbs from 260 a year ago. There are times when I see him from afar that I don't even recognize my own husband. This cancer is horrible and I pray daily that a cure is found.

    Cheryl...
I read your posts often...Praying for you and your husband.
I posted some pictures of my brother but I removed them...I just don't feel right posting these pictures of him, I shouldn't have done that. I was just so upset at the time when I saw how different he looked.
I'm so sorry you have to go through this, you and your husband.
Not one of us knows what we will be hit with in this life so I guess that is why we need to live one day at a time and take the day we have together and make the most out of it.

I have been off the board
I have been off the board for a few days and needless to say there were over 50 unread postings when I signed on tonight (or last night I guess I should say!) many of them from newbies. Thought I would bring this back up so hopefully we can get some "about me" pages filled out. It really helps to keep everyone straight!

    and...
.. and if your name isn't in your username, always sign off your messages with your name! When the person's username is GHJG734 and there's no name on the message, it makes it tough to visualize who's at the other end.

.. and studies show that nude profile pictures will get 23% more response than non-nude. :)

    And who could forget....
    Lee,
I am just SURE you meant POST-OPERATIVE NUDES didn't you? Those in the Junior class have an advantage there. I have no battle scars to show off in a expressions pic. LOL
    :(

I'm fairly new and didn't even know about the About Me pages. I've done mine now and find reading them with others' posts really helps me to feel like I know them better.
