Anyone Refused Nuelasta after the last treatment?

Hi beautiful ladies,

I was wondering if anyone from here refused to take the nuelasta shot after last treatment. I did, because my Dr. gave me the option. My blood work has been looking OK through the entire chemo process - thank God, so she thought it wouldn't affect me if I didn't take it one time, after last treatment. Now I have been feeling a little weak, which is unusual for me during taxol. Please let me know your thoughts...

    Hi! I didn't have chemo, so, I don't know. Should you call your oncologist and talk to him or the nurse about how you are feeling? I would hate to think you go into the weekend and maybe feel worse. So, please call them.

    I did neupogen between my AC
    I did neupogen between my AC infusions. My oncologist didn't have me do the injections for taxol. Since you don't need get your numbers back up for the next round, the doc probably figures your body will recover on its own.

    I fancy myself .. a 'Chameleon'
    having gone thru many in vitro treatments -- I became quite proficient at giving myself daily injections -- for 2 years == so I gave myself the neulasta injections at home, 24 hours after my TCH chemo treatments. I was so fatigued, and sick that I elected not to give myself the shot -- and kept the medication in my fridge.

    When I went in the very next week for my Herceptin infusion, my WBC were okay -- so I opted to donated my Neulasta med to the Oncology clinic.

    I did not take the injection for purely selfish reasons -- too ill, fatigued, and I knew all too well the side efforts of Neulasta ... Please note that my Oncologist and his staff -- checked my WBC weekly .. during TCH, and during my Herceptin infusions.

    Check with your Doctor before .. making any decision, have a discussion.

    I had neulasta with each of my 4 A/C but didn't have any of it with any of my 12 Taxol - no problems at all.

    Yes and it didn't go well!
    I was on 6 rounds of TAC and my bloodwork was really good for the first 5, so my onc. said we'd go ahead and skip the Neulasta after the 6th treatment. Well, about a week later, I ended up with 102 degree fever and spent 5 days in the hospital in isolation getting IVs of Vancomycin and Levequan (sp?). My white count was virtually non-existent. It did gradually come back up to a safe level and I was able to go home.

    I guess in hindsight--the bone aches from the Neulasta would have been better than what happened. We took a chance, but it didn't work out so well.

    So sorry this happened to you. I already had my taxol treatment last Friday and refused to take the nuelasta. I have been feeling weak, this is why I was wondering how others' experiences have been. I haven't been out much and so far feeling OK, except for the weakness. Eating OK too. I may check my blood again this coming week to make sure all is OK. I'll keep everyone posted.

    Yup.
    I had to go to the hospital to get it each time (after treatment) because of insurance issues. But I know what you mean about those injections! I harvested my eggs and had to do the same twice a day. I wouldn't have had any issues giving it to myself too. :)

    Nice of you to donate the neulasta

    I spoke to my Onco, and even called again the next day to speak to another Dr. They both said it was OK to skip it. :-/

    Thank you Megan! I will keep paying attention to my weakness. If anything, I can go to ER tomorrow. But I am keeping my faith I will be OK.
