Meet with the surgical team at Moffitt (Cancer center in Tampa) today. Dr. Meredith and his team explained the MIE surgery (with robotics) to John. Now I must apply for out of network coverage to have MIE done. I would appreciate everyone’s prayers that this will be an easy process. I was very impress with Dr. Meredith and his team. Tonight John wanted “White Pizza” (personally not a big fan LOL) he ate two pieces and a bowl of soup. Everything went down pretty easy (after magic mouthwash). That was a good thing! Love that you are all out there and we are all cheering each other on and supporting each other through the mystery and confusion of this new journey in our lives! Thank you all for the support and being on the boards with all of your wisdom and advice.

You are 100% correct! Everything you told me about MIE -Dr. Meredith stated the exact same statistics. The first thing he said was he does 4-5 of the surgeries per week, the first surgeon ( we saw) does the Ivor/Lewis 4-5 times per year! That is enough for me right there. Dr. Meredith was as passionate about patients having the MIE as you are. I am so grateful to you both; if it were not for you I would not have pursued the MIE. I will fight to make sure John has the surgery with an expert surgeon and an expert team of physicians and nursing staff that take care of patients having Esophagectomy every day not 4-5 times per year. That is just common sense. Again I would not have had the sense to ask if it was not for you and this site!
    Thank you, again!
