I have never posted before but have been reading this site for many months.
My husband, Alan, whose 68, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer Sept. 2009
he was T3N1MO and had chemo, Ivor Lewis op on March 8th 2010 followed by chemo and radiation. It's been a long hard journey but he is very well now and we have just had a wonderful week's holiday in Spain. We've seen the oncology Dr. today and he has arranged a CT scan as this will be his first scan since his op.

    Thank you so much for your reply William, really appreciated.

    Alan had 24 nodes removed of which 7 were cancerouse, hence the chemo and radiation, which he hated even more than the op. He was so ill that he spent a lot of the time in bed, I was his sole carer. So do agree with Loretta that it not only changes the life of the patient but also the carer/s.

    I have gained a lot of information from this site, that's how I knew that Alan was overdue a scan and asked for one. We are under the NHS in England so don't get to choose, but so far they have treated us very well.

    I had never heard of the MIE, don't know if they do it in England yet.

    I am also made aware that this "thing" can return, we all pray it won't but never know.

    My heart goes out to the people who have lost their loved ones, I have followed their journey and despaired at their loss.

    Good to read that Jimbo is doing well, best wishes to him and his family and truly hope he will be the success story to lift everyone's spirits, followed by many, many more success stories.
