I started the Tax/Carbo on Thursday of last week. How long does it take to lose hair? I dont plan on allowing it to fall out all over the house and around town. So the first sign i will shave it. SOMETHING I GET TO CONTROL. What is the average time?

    I don't know. My first
I don't know. My first treatment was Tuesday 6/21. How have you been feeling? I have finally felt some better today. I managed to walk some too. I want to build my strength back up before next tx due 7/14. I like to read what the ladies here have to say also. They are always so helpful and give sound advice. Thanks Jackie xoxox

    hair loss
Within 3 weeks of the first treatment. It will start feeling crunchy and dry like dead grass. Get rid of it then, it makes a mess when it starts coming out.

    Hair
My hair started falling out 13 days after my first treatment. I hated the mess of finding hair on my pillow and everywhere I sat. I washed my hair in the sink so I could see how much was falling out. It was alot. I cried for a few minutes then decided it was time to shave it off. My hairdresser had told me to let her know when I was ready. I called her a few days later and she came to my house and shaved it off. It was very freeing.

    Hi Jackie
Wow....we are on the same chemo cycle. My first treatment was the 23rd and second one will be July 14th. I dont feel bad at all. I chose not to take the anti-nausea pills or steroids they sent me home with. My side effects are: strange taste in my mouth, constipation, insomnia, brain fog and body aches. Walking has helped. I force myself to walk around the block several times a day. Lets keep in touch! I hope you keep feeling better each day.....

Two weeks to the day. I had
Two weeks to the day. I had it cut very, very short prior to starting chemo, however. Still, when it starts falling out in big clumps, it's very unsettling. If I ever have to do Taxol again, I will shave my head before the first treatment.

    2 weeks seems average
Have a party and shave it off/cut it short or try a mohawk like Leesa did :). My scalp was itchy and I got relief with scalpicin (SP?). Hey, at least it's summer.

Yup, no need to shave your legs
or get bikini waxes. Hey, there are a few benefits to chemo.

    2 weeks
Mine started coming out after 2 weeks. I let my grandkids be a part of the "shaving of the head". I didn't want them to be afraid of me. They live with me.

I like the benefits too Maria.... no shaving arms, no shaving legs, no waxing for swimsuit. Boy I sure did enjoy that. I kept hoping when my hair started to grow back that it wouldn't grow in those places... Darn the luck.

Hey Susan !! I am with you
Hey Susan !! I am with you about the hair thing. Its just hair. I don't care if it all does go( thanks for the warning)! I am like you it will be of my choosing. It is something that we do have control over !!! I have been feeling much better today. I walked some and managed to keep food down. I was afraid not to take the steroids and antinausea meds. I was actually feeling pretty good before the 1st tx. Anyway I know what to expect now. I am still taking some zofran. I had a bout with the constipation, and now it seems to have gone the other way. I also had a flushed face for a day and they told me to take some benadryl. The fatigue is what really seemed to get me. I plan on staying as active as I can and going back to the YMCA to the warm water therapy pool and hot tub. I would really like to go back to work at least part-time so we don't lose everythiing we have. Sorry I didn't mean to stray off the hair subject. I get my blood levels checked tomorrow. Please stay in touch, and let us know how you are. Blessings, Jackie xoxoxo

    Hey Jackie
God...a pool sounds wonderful. My family doesnt think i should go into a public pool in case my immune system is down. Hot baths have really helped, but i do love to swim. I am 5 days post chemo....and doing alright. Have you started the body aches yet?

    The Nurses
The nurses told me two weeks and two weeks it was ! We shaved it into a mohawk for fun then just buzzed it off, better than picking up stands of hair all over. It grows back and I had straight hair before and now I have a short curley doo. I can't wait for it to get longer to see what I can do with it.
You will get thru this stay strong and get lots of rest.

your head will feel tingly and kind of hurt
when you touch it. Then you will know. Also when you brush your hair and see a lot you will know it is time. First time is kind of scarey , but you get used to it and carry on. Remember to wear a hat to bed to catch the loose hair and to keep your head warm. You won't have to worry about summer , just wear a scarf or strw hat or go all natural'...val
