SO now that I have read everything on this disease that some of us have......how do we know the chemo is even working?
As in my case I have the surgery before the chemo.
I also read it can come back while on chemo......

Isn't there any news for us to put this in remission?

    All I know is that
All I know is that chemo is our best hope. They had tried some experiments with PARP inhibitors but I think that this was not successfull. I know they are doing many clinical trials.

We could get hit by a bus crossing the road tommorrow so I try not to think about the lack of promising answers to our dilemna with this diagnosis. Because of my faith I tend not to worry much. I either get to go meet Jesus early, or I get to kick cancer's butt. Either way it is a win win for me. Just not for my family. I'm pretty much betting on kicking cancer's but though.

    I asked...
I asked this very question of my oncologist with my first go round with bc...his reply," when it doesn't come back." now I am back in the battle less then two years from original diagnosis, lumpectomy, chemo and rads....it didn't come back in the breast....but above my clavicle and in some nodes...it sucks, but here I go again.....I qualified for a clinical trial chemo..it is an oral chemo.....took my first dose this past Wed.....hopefully this will work ...I will live with bc for as long as I live....it becomes a chronic disease..much like others, heart disease, diabetes, etc....as my oncologist told me, there is no cure for cancer....but chemo can and does put it in remission....for most....so hang in there ...

    Wishing you the very best,
    Hugs, Nancy

    Unfortunately, my oncologist
Unfortunately, my oncologist just said that the surgery and chemo was all they had to use now on my kind of cancer. The reason for that is she said because our cancer is rare; there hasn't been as much research on it as some of the more common cancers. When I read articles that were written years ago, I sink because the prognosis sounds so bleak. But I'm beginning to find some current information that says our cancer does respond to chemo. I think they're beginning to look closely at triple-negative. While there's no guarantee we won't have a recurrence, it seems our best bet is to do all we can think of until the new approaches surface. My doctor is leading some of the clinical trials in the Dallas area.
