Is this a symptom of menopause?

I had my surgery on May 18. I'm 48. I am hungry ALOT!! Is being this hungry a symptom of menopause? I know that a lot of women gain weight in menopause. Thankfully, so far so good, no hot flashes or mood swings. However, I realize those could follow later. I am on Zoloft (well generic) Anyway, I recently read (perhaps on this board) that a cancer patient was placed on Zoloft as it helped with hot flashes. Who knows? I feel like all of you ladies are my new best friends. This board is a wonderful source of encouragement for me!!

    Steroids?
Are you taking dexamethasone or some other type of steroid? I didn't have any hunger as a symptom of menopause.

    Increased appetite
I don't think being hungry is a menopausal symptom at all.

I don't know how long you went without eating after your surgery but I was not allowed to have food for 4 days. Afterwards, I would get starving hungry and my family doctor explained that I had used up my glycogen reserves (stored sugar in the liver) by the prolonged fasting and was having low blood sugar. I had to eat complex carbohydrates (potatoes, pasta, starchy foods) to restore the balance. It did help me.

I am not sure why you would be so hungry.
