Latest SCT Update...sorry so late

The easiest way to describe this is by days. I think you all knew that on May 23rd I collected the requried cells needed for transplant. The problem after that was the delay in getting the BCNU (one of the chemo drugs due to shortage) so my high dose chemo was delayed by about a week.

I Started my 5 day chemo round on Thurs 6/2, Fri 6/3, Sat 6/4. Sun 6/5, Mon 6/7. I did get a couple day break and got my cells back on 6/9 Which is Day 0. I am currently on Day 6. At this point I am wiped out completely. My immune system has been totally wiped out. I have had to go twice to the hospital due to fever beyond 100.5 where they draw a culture and give me IV antibioitic and go back to hope lodge for the night and back to clinic the next day. I have had 3 days total where I've had to have potassium, twice last week and today. I have had one blood and platelet transfusion and another one scheduled for tomorrow.

I am wiped out or totally crashed as my sister described. I don't have mouth sores, but they are completely down my esophagus, stomach, bowels and all the way out. It hurts to drink, eat, burp you name it. I have to drink this stuff called majic mouthwash to numb everything before trying anything.

I ate a whole plate of pancake, bacon and eggs for dinner so I think I did pretty good. Sometimes it's hard not to cry. I am tired. I'd love to see you if you can swing a visit though!

Talk to you soon

Beth

I have been thinking about you so much. I am so sorry for your sores. I too used magic mouthwash but my doctor gave me a pill in the same family as dyflucan(sp) that was much better, Glad you ate. Rest and know you are on your way to recovery. God bless you Joanie

    Dear Beth,

Thank you so much for finally posting. I can truly understand how hard it is, even to
do the little things. That's why I really appreciate any posting from you.

WOW, that must be a good sign your appetite has returned. Your body needs food and the
evergy it supplies. Good for you.

I think of you often, each day. God Bless and try and stay strong. All my love Maggie

    Take your time
    Beth,
Just take your time with the posting. We know how wore out you have to be. It will take time to get thru this. Its one day at a time. We all think about you and wonder how things are going, but at the same time we know it takes all the strenght you can muster up to post. We all been there when we went thru the Chemo treatments. Nobody but us realize what it is like. Its something we can not explain to other people. They would have to experience it for themselves. I would not wish it on anyone though. Just get that rest. john

    Hi Beth,

So lovely to see your post. I wish you were having an easier time, but I know that as the time moves on it will become a little better. You are only on day 7, I would guess that the first week is the hardest.

The transfusions should help some with the total wipe out feeling. Hopefully the sores will improve daily, and use the magic mouthwash as much as possible.

I wish I was near to you, I would be at your door right now bearing goodies and love. I am with you in spirit and send you tond of (((hugs))). A couple for your dear sister too.

Happy to see that you had my favorite dinner. Breakfast! It is one of my comfort foods.

Keep up the good hard work, you are amazing.

    Peaceful healing

    Hi Beth,
Hopefully things will just get better from here on. I'm pleased to hear you were able to eat the good diner..(we love breakfast for diner). Your body has been through so much in the last few months, so please rest and take very good care of yourself. I hope your sister will be around to help you out. Will she be able to continue to stay with you until you are further along in your healing process? I sure hope so. The sores sound dredful...my heart certainly goes out to you! Don't worry about posting unless you absolutely feel up to it...we all understand, and just want to see you get all better. Take care sweetie, and as always...positive thoughts and prayers, are flowing your way daily! Love you..Sue
