I looked them up on Wed MD and got mixed reviews has anyone tryed them or is there anything better. I am seeing my Doctor next week I need to know what to tell him I need.

    My hub is able to take both;
    My hub is able to take both; he started with Evoxac which is more expensive; we lost our insurance (maxed out) so they prescribed salagen which has a generic & he likes it better. They are not a cure all- & you may not notice a difference for a month. He realized it did work when he ran low & wasn't taking 3 pills a day.

    I can tell you that it has helped him regain his saliva. He does not have side effects.

    He also uses all of the biotene products- toothpaste; mouthwash. He finds the gel tooth paste not as drying as paste

    Evoxac for me
    I asked my surgical onc about Salagen and she recommended Evoxac...

    I have been using Evoxac for the about three months now. It does help me...I went off for a couple of weeks to see if I noticed a difference and I did. I started taking three caps per day, now I take two. I have had zero side effects. Increased sweating is one mentioned...I still sweat the same as ever...but that's the Houston area for you this time of year! I also use either Stoppers4 or Biotene spray several times a day and a few times at night. I seem to be driest during the night.

    BTW, I'm roughly 13 months post treatment, with rads all the way around and Cisplatin seven times (once weekly).

    Hope you fine some relief, best to you and all here...
    Chuck.

    Chuck, you and I are twins
    I am roughly 14 months post treatment also, with 36 rads and 6 rounds of cisplatin. I too am on Evoxac and it seems to help. I may switch to 2 pills a day also, as I go through these things like candy, it seems.
    The Evoxac seems to help with saliva and I have no side affects whatsoever. Kind of like a vitamin although it makes me pee more I think. Could be age though, I turn 60 next month.
    Robert, good luck with the dry mouth. I use stoppers 4 also, but not so much anymore. alot early on after treatment.
    all the best

    Hi Robert
    Yes I used them both and they do work, after a year I was able to get off of them. Don’t expect too much from them but remember what every you get is more then you have now. At night try using something like Stoppers4 for dry mouth, it will let you to get about 3 hours of sleep before you need to spray again.

    Wishing you the best
