The GOOD news is ...after a long afternoon of breathing tests, results and comparisons with what is the norm and how I compared with them~ and a physician who actually spent 45 minutes with me~ his conclusion is my cough is NOT cancer related!!! Another reason to change oncologists? Upon checking the CT scan from March, the pulmonary specialist told me that I have a hiatal hernia!!! My oncologist never made mention of this! He has some further testing scheduled, but in the meanwhile is treating me very conservatively and he also said that I cannot take too much Robitussin~ if it makes me feel good go ahead and take it! He actually thinks this may be caused by the hernia pushing into the diaphragm, causin acid reflux, which is making me cough and obstructing my breathing. He sees no asthma or really anything else alarming. So, I am raising the head of my bed, I have an RX for Prilosec and we take it from there!!! I am too scared to actually think this might be true...but wouldn't it be amazing?????

    that is great news! It's about time that a dr diagnosed your cough concerns. My husband had a hiatal hernia several years ago and he couldn't drink coffee or have spicy food for awhile and it went away. I take Prilosec and have for many years. Sleeping with you head elevated will also help. I do not eat spicy food although have found that chocolate can give me heartburn. I'm having a colonoscopy and endoscopy at the end of the month to make sure the lining of my esophagus is ok. Maybe you should look into getting a different onc????

    The Magic Pink Bus is indeed magic. I am SO pleased that the cause of your cough is not mets to your lungs and is a mere hiatal hernia. That is so manageable. I said a small prayer of thanks when I saw your post. Congratulations. You give all of us hope.

    Now you all know
    why I slapped her oncologist (see initial posting by Chen) and now you're all glad, aren't you....

    That's good news, Chen. Any other medical people you need me and VickiSam to take care of for you?

    Wow, so good to hear this news. Sorry I missed the bus...I must have been out on the boat and did not see the schedule. But it sounds like it was full and I missed quite the party with the gang!     I am so happy to hear that the cough is not mets related. Boy, don't you just wonder where the doctors get their brains sometimes? Oh well, another scare down, and many more to go. Hope you get the relief you need with the Prilosec, and that you don't have to go through this again any time soon. I keep you in my thoughts constantly. Hugs, Judy

    So glad Chen that it was just the hiatal hernia. I have one too and spicy foods do annoy it and the tip about sleeping elevated works for me.

    GREAT News!! It's exactly what the Doctor
    ordered. I would of posted earlier, however, I am now in New Mexico hiding out from the Santa Barbara Police department === I guess someone from your Oncologists office wrote down my license plate .. so I will be on the lam for a few weeks.

    Best news I've hear in weeks!!!!
