Has anybody had or know of someone who has tried Gama Knife radiation. A friend of mine with Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade 4 a (1 1/2 year survior) is considering it. The reason I am interested is because I too am a GBM4 survior of 2 1/2 years. I had surgery in Jan 09 and have had relativily good quality of life. Meaning driving and doing most thinngs I could before. I am still on Temadar chemo and am told I will be for the rest of my life. If there is something better, I too may be interested. |

Our oncologist said no
Because GBM4 has inflitrated alot of the brain, our oncologist wanted to take out as much as possible then do the radiation and temodar.
he said that if the tumor came back, it would most likely come back within 3cm of the original site, SO we needed to do the radiation BEYOND the limits of the original tumor..
Plus the fact that in most GBM4 tumors, the tumor itself is not as solid or defined....

Same here
they told me not only was my tumor inoperable, but the Gamma knife was not a solution in my case
