My husband and I just got back from Fl last Sat. We went to a new ENT today and he put the scope down his nose and said "I see something that concerns me and I want to do a biopsy in 2 weeks" He said that my husband has a infection in his throat and wants him on antibiots for 2 weeks. So now we are worried again. Does it ever stop? He has had all his rad and cemo treatments in Fl. His ENT doctor in Fl just said that he saw a lot of swelling in his throat still and that was about a month ago. Here we go again!

    Hi Sue
I hear this with every ENT I see too, more biopsy’s more PET scans. I finally found an ENT that when she looked the first time said I see a lot of dead tumor and scar tissue. She was a little concerned a few months ago when my MD Anderson PET scan came back showing a area that lit up in my nasal passageway. So she said lets wait and see before we do anything because it could just be inflamed or infected. She did a Scope yesterday and said everything looks so much better then before.

Don’t worry too much a lot of times it is nothing more then just a infection but the doctors always like to make sure.

    All the best

    I know the feeling!
    Hello Sue,
I know just how you guys feel.
My mom completed radiation treatment in August for paranasal cancer. In Feb. they saw something on CT right after ENT had told us it was just inflammation. Biopsy in March was negative. We were so happy. Then PET scan in April lit up in that area. Biopsy again done in May 13th and ENT surgeon said it was definitely cancer and referred us to a specialized surgeon. Went for final results Wed. and that surgeon said biopsy was positive, and they must remove her eye because tumor is along eye muscle, which is near where original tumor was.

SO....we're trying to quickly get a 2nd opinion from MD Anderson.
Hondo, what is the name of your ENT? that dead tumor and scar tissue sounds very interesting.
Hang in there Sue. You are not alone. My prayers are with you guys. keep us posted.

Sue I wish I had a nickel for every time a doctor saw "something that concerned them". I am sorry you and your husband are having to go through this. Hopefully the antibiotics will clear this up. The first few years post treatment I had a lot of issues with recurrent infections. I was almost constantly on an antibiotic. Suddenly they all just went away. I don't think it ever "stops" but time helps.

Thanks for the response! I don't know who is taken it worse ME or my HUSBAND! One day you feel half way deceit and the next BAM! back the all the worry. So now have to wait 2 weeks before he gos into the hospitol and they do the biopsy of his supragollic cancer. He said that they will be a different type of a track in so maybe (just maybe ) that will help him feel a little better. He's had that thing in for almost 4 months now. I was just wondering if that was giving him the infection? who knows? All he saids is that he wants to get back to eating food and drinking his coffee again! Poor thing has nothing by mouth for 6 months now! Sue

I can understand how you are feeling. Each doctor (even in the same field, ENT, etc.) will see things just a bit differently. I saw an ENT doctor who was convinced that all I had was massive infection in my sinuses. Well this was one time I didn't. I had just come off a 3 month round of Augmentin XR (2000 mgs a day). I went to a new ENT (at the teaching hospital where all my specialists are now) and she said it was recurring tumor back in the same sinuses. She did a biopsy and turns out she was right.

Praying the biopsy goes well for your husband.

    NEW ENT
Thanks Teresa, I guess the worrying never ends with this type of cancer, I had stage 3 cervical cancer at the age of 32 now 62 and I told them take it out! Don't want it. But with my husband it is not as easy. He said the other day if the biopsy comes back positive that the cancer is still there, he does not know if he wants to not be able to talk again. So don't know what will happen. I told him that I would much like to lose my voice than my life! So here we go again! Sue
