Question: What date do you consider your cancerversary? Is it the day you were diagnosd, the date of your surgery, the date you ended treatment...? I know this is a weird question, but I'm looking forward to calling myself a one year survivor. Thanks!

    My coworker uses her
My coworker uses her diagnosis date. I prefer to use the day of my lumpectomy 2/10/2010 because that is when the tumor was removed. I also add that treatment ended 10/2010. Isn't it funny how those dates are so numerically intertwined?? Right now I refer to things as "it has been one year since lumpectomy, one year since first chemo", etc.

For me it's the last day of treatment...
I remember the dates for day of results, date of surgery etc..but the date I really remember is June 28, 08 my last day of radiation...so that is my anniversary date.

Day of diagnosis...when my whole life changed in a way...
Hi all, I consider the day of my diagnosis as my cancerversary-JULY 28, 2009. That is when so many things in my life changed...How I view people, and life, and love. So, that is my day, although I felt excited when my chemo ended (Nov. 21, 2009) and when my radiation ended (March 3, 2010). Every day of being a SURVIVOR is precious! But, in my calculations, I am coming up on two years! YEAH!

    same
I say the day of diagnosis as well. I could rattle off other dates without batting an eye also. Surgery, chemo, radiation...I think those dates will stay with me forever.

Date of diagnosis was January 6, 2009.

    The day I was diagnosed
I remember the day like it was yesterday..sitting in the doctor's office with my husband who was 4 months past a bone marrow transplant himself!! The doctor said "You have cancer" and once again our life went thru some changes. This July 15th will be one year for me.

    Thanks, all!
I think I will go with my diagnosis date - June 22. That is when I became a survivor!

    cancerversary

Congrats to all you survivors out there!  Today is my 21st cancerversary!  I consider my diagnosis date as my anniversary date and 21 years ago I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) and basically given 2 years to live.  Well I proved them wrong!  Stay strong everyone and enjoy life to the fullest!
