    Albumen?
Do you know what her albumen protien level is? If it is too low, her tissues will not hold fluid, resulting in another form of ascites. If they are too low, insist that she be put on TPN(total parental nutrition).

    Mum was drained today ,
Mum was drained today , there was no mention of the treatment not working, so I am hoping that this is the last time they will have to do it assuming this treatment is working , I guess we will know in the next week , if it starts to fill up again.
@Evelyn, I am a lot calmer than I was this time last year, I was in pieces , but it didn't help me and it didn't help mum, I think I spent so long looking ,reading , researching I have exhausted all my anger and sadness, I spent many nights howling my eyes out, looking for a miracle.....if only there was one for all the ladies out there fighting this monster.

    Take care xxx Liz xxx

Liz, I can relate to the
Liz, I can relate to the being in pieces you mention. That was / still is me from when my mum started her treatment 6 months ago. She had the last scheduled chemo 2 weeks ago and has the scan on Friday and results on 1st June to find out if it has worked at all and whether surgery will be of use. My anxiety is increasing again to fever-pitch! I almost feel like chucking my PC out the window to stop me reading all the distressing stuff.

Big hug for you and sending love and strength to you both. You seem to have offered so much support and strength to others, so time to have some back for just you and your lovely mum.

    Thinking of you. xxxx

Since it's been 4 weeks since the last drain,,,,,,that sounds like a huge improvement to me.....how many weeks did it used to be before between build ups?....your Mom's CA-125 is excellent....I would not jump to the conclusion that the doxil isn't working....I will say preyers for you and I will add that the doxil has to be doing some magic..look at her numbers.....also there are so many chemos that your Mom has yet to try....but at the very least, the doxil has done a good job of knocking it back it sounds like...

Thanks Lisa and Evelyn , I
Thanks Lisa and Evelyn , I am trying to think along those lines Lisa , mum was having it drained weekly , then after the second lot of doxil she went three weeks , now a four week gap , so I am praying it is still working, the numbers look good they are going in the right direction, however they didn't ca125 test today , I wish they had, she has her next lot of doxil at the beginning if June and obviously her. Ca125 draw.also like you said if it has stopped working it will have kicked it back a bit :)

I am trying to stay positive, but it's just the not knowing, I am sure you can all reslte to it!!!!

Fingers crossed for you mum on June the 1st Evelyn praying for her and you xxx
