Entering the haunted house ....

And so it begins. I'm actually sitting in the waiting from while mom does her dry run. We made the mask last week . It's much smaller than I thought. It doesn't cover her neck ... Just the face. Tonsil CA to one lymph node .. I Would think they would radiate other nodes down the side of her neck. Is that unusual? It ends right under her chin. Any comments?

1st radiation tx tomorrow. I fought for early PEG placement thanks to everyone on here and really happy with that decision. It will be placed on wednesday. we are not doing chemo.

We've started glutamine and miaderm cream.

And so it begins.. We are entering the haunted house waiting for those evil clowns to jump out at us. ( moms analogy) . She feels "blind folded" and i will hold her hand through the journey and hope to pick her up when she stumbles. We know the light at the end of the tunnel is life ... Years of happiness.

Thanks for listening.

    Lymph nodes
They never radiated my lymph nodes but treatments seems to have gotten them so no surgery post radiation/chemo. Tell her to hang in there.

    It sounds prudent
not radiating the nodes saves radiation exposure which is not to be understated. A neck disection is always possible afterward if needed. Haunted houses can be amusing at times, this one is scary but easier as you go.

Please tell your mom I got
Please tell your mom I got quite the chuckle at her analogy! That is exactly how I felt last week when I had my first treatment. You know how the process is going to go and how scary it will be, but no idea when or where those darn carnival people are going to pop out of!! I kept reminding myself that I was scarier than that mask could ever be...

Lots of prayers for you and your mom as she starts her treatment. Sounds like she is very lucky to have such a wonderful support!

    The Story Begins

I too got a laugh out of the Clowns thing, a good way to look at it and keep positive about the treatment. Yes the journey is a long and hard road but you both will do well just believing and all things are possible.

    Thanks
