Anne's Adventures in ER land

Well I had to make a trip to ER last night. My heart was racing, I had thrown u and generally felt curmmy - spent the day in bed. My husband called my primary nurse (my onc's nurse) + she wanted us to go to the ER at my cancer centre. So off we went, arriving ~ 9:30 pm and left after 6:am the next day. I was seen almost right away, and put in a bed in the ER. I have not had to be in ER for a long time + was so happy they were able to access my port for blood, and hydration. I was given a pretty complete work-up - bloodwork, urinalysis, EKG,monitoring of temp, bp and hear rate, xray. I was low in magnesium and had a UTI (no symptoms for that!) So I was given IV anti-nauses, IV magnesium solution and saline solution. The nurses + doctor were great, and I had a "physician's assisstant" -never heard of that before. The doctor was gorgeous + looked like she should be on a medical show. She gave me thw choice of staying or going home; I chose home. I will be receiving home hyration for a few days.

    Dear Anne,

I'm so sorry and worried that you went to ER last night. I hope you are feeling better now.
I've talked to my friend's mum about the hospital facilities in US and I'm amazed by their professional high standard services available for their patients.
You are always in my thought!
    Love and hugs

    Anne:
Sure hope you feel better soon. Must have been a "Friday the 13th" thing because George spent all day in the ER also but he was admitted.

George's onc has 4 physicians assistants on staff at the office. You see them before you see the onc when you come in to see the doc. They spend lots of time in the room and do a pretty good work up before the onc steps in so he has a pretty good report on things before he steps in the room. They also do hospital rounds with the oncologist.

Take care, big hugs - Tina

    That's where you've been...

Well, I'm glad that you're home now and will begin to feel better.

Don't like it when my Annie is sick:)
