Trip to MO today....

Had my MRI and Pet Scan. Saw the results online, but had to wait until today for MO's interpretation. He was very pleased with the results. I am not dancing with NED, but before starting chemo, I had bone mets in almost all of my bones. The pet scan shows that there are only 6 tumors left that are metabolic. And out of those 6, 2 have shrunk considerably. Others have only grown slightly, but enough to limit my mobility. MRI shows 2 new tumors on forehead and 1 on right side of head but they are small and could have grown in the 4 months between last MRI and starting chemo in January.

One thing I didn't understand is why the tumors in my L-1, femurs, and left bum bones, were not affected by the chemo??? He said that some tumors, the cells are more resistant.

Now back to RO. I had rads on my hips pelvic and tailbone in October and was told I could only have rads one time to an area, so it may not be an option, but I am optimistic and MO thinks that she maybe able to do spot (gamma knife).

I have posted about the extreme pain in my legs following Zometa, and thankfully, I will no longer be getting it. YEAH!!! I got a shot of XGEVA in the fatty part of my arm (and since starting all of this, there is a lot of fatty part) which he says is proving to be as effective as Zometa without all of the side effects.

Is anyone else here on XGEVA? I had never heard of it, but I do not have any leg cramping so maybe he is on to something!

I know, this does not sound like very good news, but in my world it is great news!! And thanks everyone for always being so caring and positive.

With a big smile,
~Carol

and I started 9 more chemo's that will be followed by another MRI and Pet Scan in July.

Asked him if I would be cured and it threw him, till he looked up and I was smiling!!! I really am happy that I am negating the original prognosis:))

    You truly are amazing
I know I have said it to you many times before but I feel these words don't even
do you justice. You bravery and the grace you display leaves me in awe.

Given all that you are facing, you still manage to triumph over this dreaded
this disease, that is incredible news. I hope with all my heart that you continue
    to triumph.

Thank you for continuously sharing your wisdom and being such a great role mode.

    Love,
    Ayse

    Wow!
Keep your positive outlook! Your latest test results show improvement and that's what you have to focus us. I've never heard of the meds you are on but if they work is all the more reason to keep with it. Some day when you ask your onc if you will be cured he may just smile back at you!

    Hurray for the improvements!
Hurray for the improvements! That is so encouraging and the fact that you got a smile when you asked about a cure was encouraging as well! Hang in there. I know its hard to be positive a lot of the time, but you sure do seem to be doing a great job of it!

    Thank you everyone for all
Thank you everyone for all the encouragement. There are days when I really need it. The Xgeva was so much easier on my legs, however, I was much more nauseated but that is better than extreme pain. Yesterday and today, I have felt pretty good, ugg.... it is back to chemo in the morning.

    Thank you everyone,
    ~Carol
