Erbitux

I have had one treatment of the erbitux and camposar so far. I am so sick with nausea and diarrhea. No engergy. I went for treatment today but they gave me nausea meds and fluids instead. I lost 10 lbs in one week. Water weight I'm sure. I get to go back again on Thursday to try again for treatment. Not loving this at all. My face has broke out with the rash. I did eat a bowl of chicken noodle soup today and have kept in down. I don't know which med is making me sick. AnneCan wanted to let you know how my first week went.

My hubby was on erbitix but not the camptosar. I can tell you the only side effects from the erbitux was the rash, It's not known to really cause nausea and vomiting. That is just my experience, everyone is different, but I did see a number of people at his cancer center on erbitux who only experienced the rash

    Hope that was helpful

I am so sorry for the rotten side effects after your first erbitux/irinotecan treatment. The rash is something I am worried about but also something I know I will worry about if I don't get it, because a lot of people have said that it indicates the erbitux is working. So hopefully it is a good sign for you! Are you getting anything special to deal with it? My onc's nurse has assured me that if I have bad rash I will be given antibiotics. I don't see anyone at my cancer centre with a rash (+ believe me I have looked!) so I am choosing to trust that my onc will help me when needed. Today I found out, + I don't know if this might be true for you or not, that my first dose of erbitux was a "loading" dose + then starting next week I will be on a "maintenance" dose (lower). Next week I will also only get erbitux. Now overall I have felt pretty good, just very tired, but they gave me benadryl by IV which really knocks me out. It is early; I just had my treatment today, so we shall see. I hope your next treatment is kinder to you + I hope it knocks the cancer on its azz. We can help each other on this journey.

    diarrehea
    Hi Robin

I am going to going on the same regiment as you come a few weeks. I just did my last round of avastin with camp and f5u. I get diarreha and nausea from the camposar. Everyone reacts differently. I find if I start taking ginger pills a few days before the treatment, it minimizes the nausea to nill. Even though I don't want to eat, I try to eat a little something every couple of hours..crackers, plain pasta or rice. I don't know if the soup is a good idea given the amount of salt in there. Also important to keep those liguids in you. In the begining, I was not all that careful and thought "oh, I can eat whatever I want" a few days after camp. Nope. I found I have to eat very light, stay away from spicey foods and alcohol. I miss an occasional margherita..lol. No. They are not my friend. I have managed the last few treatments with the camp, I have had no diarrehea. I don't know what will happen when my regiment changes and they add the camp at higher dose. I will let you know how it effects me.

    Rash

I broke out in a bad rash on my face and in my hair. I think the hair is more bothersome. I cannot stop picking at it. I had both the erbitux and camposar my first treatment. Ended up in the hospital for a few days. I couldn't stop throwing up and diarrhea. My Onc is stopping the camosar this time and reducing the dose on the Erbitux. The things we have to go thru huh? I sure hope this is working.
