I've started going topless.

So I have about 1/4 of hair now...same mousy brown with a little bit of gray. And the weather has been mostly co-operating, so I have pretty much stopped wearing my hats.

The last few times I've left the house, my wonderful hubby said "Where is your hat?". I'm not so sure he approves of my skinhead look.

    I was nervous about going
I was nervous about going topless too. But once I did it I loved it. I didn't like them hats. They were hot and uncomfortable to me. Now I have about 1&1/2 inches yippee. Enjoy going topless Your beautiful with or without hair. And it is easier to take care of LOL...

    My hair actually looked
My hair actually looked better at 1/2" than it does at 2". It has come in soooooo curly!
I went to my favorite hairdresser when I visited Phoenix last week and she couldn't believe it was my hair. It was great to get it 'styled' and highlighted. Its short, but looks more like me than a dark chia pet with assorted grays.... Hope it goes back to normal someday. things DO go back to normal, right??? :>

You skinhead look... you made laugh. You'd be the nicest skinhead
    and bring shame to them.

do what feels good to you, I went topless as soon as I saw a trace
of hair.. LOl I don't know why that mattered, it was so little anyway.

    "topless"! and empowered!
Yes, I love the way that "topless" here means something different than it usually does! :)

I got cut/shaved today and am now going "topless"! My hair was thinning, and thinning, and thinning on Taxol for 9 weeks now...finally I had enough,,,I looked like a mad scientist....still almost shoulder length but could see all the scalp underneath...

went to Hair Cuttery (cheap!) and told them give me a # 3 buzz...and feeling so empowered right now! I would NEVER have had the nerve to cut my hair this short without chemo! I think it looks great (well, at least compared to how it looked before!) and am very comfortable topless, I just look/feel like a woman who decided to go really radical and cut her hair really short, not like someone on chemo.

I am BALD woman, hear me roar!!!!

    Oh yeah--topless = freedom
After my first couple of outings, I didn't mind it one bit. I even think people were nicer to me in public--probably felt sorry for me for looking like such a nerd! But I didn't care--I milked it for everything it was worth!

    Enjoy and be free!

    Hugs, Renee

    Hi Linda,
    I know you had

    Hi Linda,
I know you had chemo then surgery. When did your chemo end? - what I'm asking is, how long it took for your hair to start coming in. I'm getting ahead of myself here since mine's just starting to fall out! I had surgery first.

Hey, I'm happy for your new toplessness (sounds so funny) and it must feel like some kind of freedom! Anyway it's another milestone in the journey. What's up with your husband? Men... sheesh... sometimes a little dense.

    Male pattern baldness regrowth
Good for you, Linda. I'm jealous. Actually, I was fine with being bald, but I've still got this male pattern balness regrowth thing going on and I just can't do it yet. I do think it's improving, but still much too sparse. Maybe by the Northern California lunch??

    Awesome! I ditched the hats
Awesome! I ditched the hats once i had that "5 o'clock shadow" on my head. I was amazed at how much I looked like my younger brother when I had the "skinhead" look going on. lol he's not a skinhead, but he always has a buzzed head, and i wear the white men's ribbed tank tops to bed most of the time, which my brother always wears with jeans, so I'd wake up in the morning, go in the bathroom to wash my face, look in the mirror & see my brother looking back at me!
My hair has come in much thicker than before chemo (yaay) and stick straight! I got my first trim last weekend & some highlights, and last night I dyed the highlights pink :)

    Hey Lin,
    My last chemo was

    Hey Lin,

My last chemo was Dec 9th. I've had the 5 o'clock shadow (as Heather calls it) for about 3 weeks. But like everything else, we're each different. Your hair might come in faster than mine has. And some get a different texture (chemo curl) or thickness than they had prior to chemo.

I hope this helps...and good wishes for your treatments.

    Hugs,

    Linda

    Congrats & me too
I unveiled my 1/2 to 3/4 inch mostly salt & pepper on 3/7 at work! Tomorrow night I will go to a costume gala and although I'm wearing a hat (going as Luvey Howell from Gilligan's Island), I will be topless underneath.
It is so freeing!! I am surprised that people don't comment and have been very nice (sales people) overall.
I will probably keep my hair short because I love the convenience of it. I died my hair for 40 years and I figure that this is my opportunity to go "au natural".
    Enjoy the freedom of toplessness!

Liberating -- isn't it? I felt more 'normal' with my
spiky hair, as little as there was of it --. I also sensed the end of my chemo treatments, and getting back to normal. A sense of relief. . . a sign that things were about to change, this time, for the better.

Congratulations .. job well done, fellow Chemo Queen.

Strength, Courage and happy hair regrowing :)

So happy for you now that you feel comfortable going topless. I finished chemo 3 months ago and my hair is coming in white with some dark. It's still very sparse so I continue to wear hats. My scalp is still quite visible. The strange thing is the white hair has some long strands and the dark is really short. It looks straight even though I used to have a natural wave. I had colored my hair for more than 20 years and not sure what the future holds for me.
