This is cut and pasted from a US Dept of Health and Human Services publication. Although it's a bit dated, I thought it was interesting:

Vitamin C Injections Slow Tumor Growth in Mice

High-dose injections of vitamin C, also known as ascorbate or ascorbic acid, reduced tumor weight and growth rate by about 50 percent in mouse models of brain, ovarian, and pancreatic cancers, researchers from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) report in the August 5, 2008, issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The researchers traced ascorbate’s anti-cancer effect to the formation of hydrogen peroxide in the extracellular fluid surrounding the tumors. Normal cells were unaffected.

And a very good article from the Canadian Medical Journal on IV Vit C can be found at:

    desperation..
I just made a few phone calls to look into IV vit C. My nearest center is almost 2hrs away. I live in a rural area. First visit includes:
    1hr doctor visit $500
    1hr PA visit: $250
    Labs: $500
    1hr nutritionist: $95
Why would you have to see a doctor AND a PA? IV therapy runs approximately between $100 and $300 depending on the dose and the additional nutrients added. They recommend 2 to 3x per week. Not covered by insurance, of course. They also recommend a ton of other vitamins that they sell.

    hydrogen peroxide
Did I read on this board or somewhere else about someone taking baths with hydrogen peroxide because the skin absorbs a percentage, it would be much cheaper if true.
How are you feeling Carlene ?

I feel great, except for the post-Christmas crud that I came down with right after my last trip to NYC. I am so thankful I did not have to go back last week or this.

That's obscene. I don't think I have ever had a one hour "visit" with a doctor or a PA, let alone both in the same office, on the same day.

And why do you have to see a nutritionist? I get the "whole body" thing, but this is clearly an attempt to gouge as much money as they can from desperate patients. It's people like this that give alternative therapy a bad name.

    Thanks...you saved me some time.
After reading all the recent posts, I was going to call around and check into vitamin C IVs. After seeing the costs (not even taking into account the missed work I'd need to make up), this is completely outside the realm of possibility for me.

I'm happy for those who have the resources to pursue any and all treatments options, but it is definitely an elite group.

Have you called Cancer Treatment Centers of America? There might be another option for you. They told me that they work with insurance. I am doing very well with the local alternative doctor in town so I have not pursued CTCA as an option.

I doubt CTCA would take on a patient just for the IV Vit C infusions. I think they would insist on moving your entire treatment plan to one of their facilities.

Still.....I guess it wouldn't hurt to call and ask.
