Nothing to do with Cancer

I had a UTI a couple weeks back, had an allergic reaction to macrobid antibiotic ended up in ER. They did a ct and said they felt it was kidney infection. Finished a stronger antibiotic a little over a week ago. Ever since then I am having pain in my lower back and it runs down both thighs to my knees, if I set on the john to urinate it hurts in my legs where they meet the john, and my lower back until I finish, then the pain lets up for a while. I wonder if I could have a kidney stone or still some infection. I will go to the Doctor, but wondered if any one here has ever had kidney stone or kidney infection and if so what were the signs and symptoms? Could I be a diabetic? I have had so many health problems I am sick of Doctors and pills. I had my annual pap and was told I have the HPV virus active down there and have to have check ups every 4 months until I am clear for 1 year, Davids Throat Cancer is HPV possitive. My point being could my immune system be down from hpv and causing me to get all these infections and health problems. I know I have thrown a lot out there, but just wanted to get the experts advice before I go to the Doc. Lol :~)

    Hi Terry
I am no medical expert but have a very bad kidney infection years ago. I had severe back pain that was almost debilitating. Even some bleeding. Please call your DR, maybe you
need more antibiotic's etc. He will take a urine sample etc. Hope all is well!

Call your doctor and make an appointment. Sounds like a kidney infection to me and that's nothing to fool around with. If you let it go too long, you could end up in the hospital yourself, Sweetie.

    Hi Terry
You are in luck, I am the kidney stone expert, so far to date I have had 5 of them and had to have surgery to remove one of them, not fun at all.

You will have a lot of back pain, so bad you will think you are having a baby. The pain will normally start about midway up the back and travel toward the center of the pelvis. Sometimes you will get pain in the stomach and also feel like it is in the gallbladder and other organs, but it is only because the pain from the kidney stone has block the tube and the kidney is swelling.

In all my times having kidney stones I have never had it travel in my legs, that is normally from damage to the Sciatic Nerve, from lifting or falling, you can damage the L4 or L5 in the back.

    With you on the Doctors
Terry, I am sorry to hear of your problems. I have not experienced this, and hope you feel better soon. I do feel your pain when it comes to seeing so many Doctors and pills. I am sick of seeing them as well. Seems like the only thing my GP does now is refer me to another specialits. I hope you get things resolved very soon. I will keep you and David in my prayers. Sorry I could not offer any insight to your question.Debbie

Thanks for the web sites, I checked them out. The thing with me is the pain runs downs both legs and if I bend at the waist it makes the pain in the lower back worse and pulls and burns down both legs. Right now I have a burning pain in the right part of my lower buttock, a constant dull ache. I feel nothing bulging it feels like a muscle and hurts to rub there. I had an MRI a few weeks back and it came back normal. But I have also had several urine test and had an infection that did not show up in tests. I am beginning to doubt my doctor's effectiveness and how well he is doing his job? Not sure what to do, I have been to several doctors with all these symptoms and they have found nothing. The only relief I had was while I was on a strong antibiotic that I finished a week or so back. The pain could be considered in the pelvic area to I guess it is very close to that area also. I am at a lose. The nerve thing makes the most sense but it says on the computer the pain would be in only one leg, mine is in both. It is not as bad as it was last week but it still is hurting on the back of right buttock and leg along with the lower back. Didn't mean to go on and on, I am just hoping someone reading this will have some suggestions as to what it may be, or what kind of Doctor to see other than PCP. Thanks to all for your input and help here.

I have problems in the L4 and L5 disk and I have pain sometimes in both legs, it is worse in the left leg and at times runs all the way down the back of the leg in to the foot. I also have the pain in the butt right where you would sit and it hurts like hell. Try going to see a Orthopedic Doctor I think you will get better help then seeing you Oncla man.

Take care and hope you do well my friend

Thanks for the help Honda. I will let you know what I find out. I was just concerned it could be the kidney infection hanging on, but I didn't think that would cause pain in my legs.

Yep I know what you mean about time, I got married in 74 that is right at 36 year now and I don’t regret one day. We both changed a little over time but she is still the wonderful woman I fell in love with and the best caregiver this old boy ever had.

All the best to you both

That is wonderful. Life is good when you have love in it. Hope you are feeling better and all is well.
David got rid of the bacterial infection "klebsiella" but now has the thrush again. What a roller coaster ride he has been on, but he has eaten some oatmeal this morning and I scrambbled him a couple eggs and he ate about half of that and of course his two cal hn so I am hoping he can keep trying to eat food along with the tube feedings and get some weight back on and get the tube out in the near future. It may be a while on that though. We are waiting on the results of a new culter done wednesday should know something tomorrow on that. I am praying it shows nothing this time around. Prayers are welcomed as always.
Have a wonderful day and God bless you for your input on this site. You are a blessing to so many people and we thank you for that..
