A kiss on the hand
May be quite continental,
But diamonds are a girls,s best friend.

There may come a time
When a lass needs a lawyer,
But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

It's then that those louses
Go back to their spouses.
Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Yap but I can't afore it , at least not impressive ones, Next suggestion please! LOL.

A colorful scarf or good leather gloves?

Or a day of pampering?

Or just assuring her that you will do anything you can to continue to be there for her.

well can you come up with 365 reasons why you love her and why she is a wonderful person? write each one down and fold it and put all in a jar, and then for one whole year she can pick one to read each day!!

I second Alice's suggestion - a gift certificate to the spa for a massage/nails/feet. I like Kathy's too (I just told Rick that he's going to have to start writing!) ;-)
Anyway, how about a gold necklace with pendant - not too expensive, just something simple and classy. Or maybe a ring with her birthstone flanked by a couple of small diamonds (chips even), again, it doesn't need to be too expensive. I'm really picky about my handbags, so nobody would even TRY to buy one for me! :-) Happy shopping!! :-)

Christmas, a compromise ring with a big lonely diamond, as thanks for taking care of me!.
What about a Balenciaga Handbag do you know it?

As for me - I love the custom kayak paddle my husband had made for me, but I'm just a country girl!

Explain it please Alice! ( y know what a kayak paddle is but what to do with a handbag?)

It has nothing to do with a handbag - just that I like the kayak paddle even better! It gets me places that a handbag can't.

Whatever you get your wife she'll appreciate. By the way, in our tradition, it is bad luck to give an empty handbag - it must contain a few sous....

Happy Christmas!

Pep

When our (me and my husbands) work gets crazy, which it has been since my mom got sick, we give each other the gift of time. We say that we are going to take a trip on a specific day. We spend the money that we were going to spend on christmas gifts on the trip.

She use to love jewels and hand bags too, concerning to hobbies and interests , she use to be very handy, and a big reader but unfortunately since I'm sick she spends more and more time behind her lap top smoking a lot , chatting by facebook or working , and of course taking care of me!.

This year my oldest daughter suggested we do "family rings" for Christmas. We are having rings made for my two daughters + me with each of our birthstones on them. For my husband we are having cufflinks made with the 4 gems in it. There are also some beautiful bracelets out there, which seem to be very poular with a lot of my friends + can be purchased at many price points. Also, if she loves to travel + you are going to NYC when you are NED, what about a book about NYC? One Christmas my husband planned my whole Christmas gift around travel - suitcase, books, nice soaps etc.; it was a wonderful gift + left me anticipating our first one week holiday w/o kids, which we took in May.

you seem to want to get her a handbag, yet nobody is really biting or jumping up and down about it. I dunno, unless you have great taste or know the bag brand well enough to know she will love it, well, I wouldn't. I am pretty particular about my bags, not sure any man could pick one out for me. Now only you know Tote and she definitely might be totally different....

I do like the idea of a bag, with something in it....hummmm....like a totally tacky bag, disguisting color, a real cheapo one....and then when she is obviously disappointed and yelling at you for being totally thoughtless....tell her she better open it before she makes a fool of herself. And then in the bag something unique, something special- and if you insist on a bag, give her a gift certificate to pick out her own.

Personally, I prefer jewelry. Diamonds are great- but many other precious stones that are incredible. Have something special made for her- check with a local jewelry shop, talk to their craftsman.

Good luck!

Pepe,

How about a necklace engraved with a nice message? Or a bracelet that's engraved? I'm really into music, so a cd I've been really wanting, or tickets to see someone live that I like is very exciting to me.

*hugs*

Something sentimental, a very thoughtful card and something engraved is very thoughtful. I really like the spa idea, nice relaxing day just for her.. Petrina

put some jewelry and a spa pass in the purse too ... that way you've covered all your bases. It's always easier to spend someone elses money. Shouldn't ask us women to spend your money for you! LOL

I can't offer suggestions. I have cancer, I sort of gave up on material things, I got happy with just the sun shining, reading a good book, waking up everyday, that I can't even make a suggestion.
I just want to spend time with my children, my man, the nature around me.
In the real world, it's stupid, because, well, we're trained to expect things.
I want a warm hand on my ***, a thank you for dinner, and a kiss good night. This is all I want or expect for Christmas. I'm giving absolutely nothing for Christmas to anyone.
My children, their getting my heart, my love, my hugs.
My husband, well he's lucky, because he's got me, plain and simple.
Oh, crap, can you believe I just lied???
I just thought of something I REALLY, REALLY WANT!!! Someone to help weed my garden!!!!
That is my Christmas list, and I can't suggest anything better them that.

A spa day would be nice, something frivolous, unless she does that all the time.

No clothes! I mean don't buy her clothes unless it's an accessory or a great wool coat!

A nice purse is good, unless she already has that.

A gift certificate to a nice shoe place because if she already has those, she wants more.

A weekend away with her best friend, unless that is you or, it's a guy! :) A break.

An iphone, and ipad,

or,maybe she just wants you...a bottle of wine, chocolate covered strawberries, cheese and grapes....

Oh, 500 hundred count sheets or higher......I will take this ANYTIME! There is nothing like sleeping on great 100% cotton sheets! I love my bed SO much! My sheets are to die for, and they smell like clean linen! Oh yea!

One of the most thoughtful gifts I ever got from George was a small heart necklace made of small diamonds. It's about 1 inch in length. I cherish it. That tiny heart just says it all. Or perhaps a heart pendant, the kind that opens, with a picture of you or both of you inside, engrave a saying like, "forever in my heart".

Another thing, but a little on the expensive side, is a strand of pearls. Nothing classier than a strand of real pearls, and they look great with anything she wears.

Take care and happy shopping - Tina

I once got a half heart necklace. I wore half of the heart and my ex-husband (what was his name? LOL - just joking!!!) wore the other half.

We tried for the extra kid but the sperm missed.
It depends on your mood but seriously we tried up to the day chemo/radiation started.
We sort of both agreed while in some cancer induced haze to see if the time between diagnosis and chemo / radiation was enough to win the kid lottery. Three weeks just was not long enough. Or maybe I did not try hard enough. I just got an idea for another riddle.
Maybe a kid named Gucci. That would be something different. I was feeling pretty sentimental about life and the universe after winning the colorectal lottery and seriously consider giving the wife something special. Thought about a dog, but we already have two. Thought about a plant, but she has killed all her plants. Then thought about a kid and realised our current two kids are great. It was a sentimental but compleltely unrealistic period and we were both relieved and sort of disappointed.

If not a kid then a good movie.
Maybe take her to a good click flick but make the day special.
You could start by going to massage/spa thing.
then do lunch somewhere nice,
then romantic movie,
then lovelly walk and
diner somewhere beautiful. try and make all the choices her favourite.

Of course with either choice make it a surprise.

I am sure whatever you get or do will be fabulous.

did not realise you were being basted internally and microwaved.
I remembered my riddle and will post it now.
I dream of doing heafy or able tasman or tongaro circuit or route burn or milford.
Or just digging holes in hot water beach with bikini clad babes. Whenever you post my love of your stunningly beautiful country comes back to me. If your well enough for a tramp and the weather looks good send me a message if your a bit of an outdoors type.
I pray the treatment works for you.

That was a fun read! All of the above suggestions were great. I can't wait to find out what it will be. How about A Coach bag? It's not Spanish but it's pretty popular over here in the states.

Good Luck,
Diane

But there are some novelties ! She ruined her lap top on Monday and not chance to repair it, so I think a new lap top and a pair of boots she show in a very fancy shop yesterday would be a good present as she can't live without lap top!.

Those both sound like wonderful gifts. I'll be getting bathrobe and slippers for Christmas I already know as I bought them so my hubby could give them to me as a present :) Not sure who can live without a lap top though. Nice gift.

you found the key to shopping for anyone - listening to what they want and what their needs are. Laptop and boots she admired are PERFECT. All you got to do is keep your ears and eyes open and Tote told you EXACTLY what she wanted and needed!
