Hi all,
I have not been on CSN for quite a while. I have a lot going on, but you are always in my prayers. I have my PET Scan on Monday 11/15 at Mt Sinai, and am trying not to rev-up! I am planning to have this port-o-cath out of my chest in December, after I receive my
CLEAN scan. I am in the midst of a divorce, and hardly notice the days passing by. Where did this year go? I am maintaining my weight, since my husband is not here right now hindering my eating, recovery, and spirit. I probably will not have medical insurance when the divorce is finalized, and I doubt if I will be accepted at Mt Sinai without it.
I am not concerned about my future, I have put my life in God's hands, and he has lifted me up. I lost my Mom in October, and have really just begun to grieve. She is at peace.
She did not know about my battle, nor my lack of support from my husband. I am thankful for that. Although, I am sure she is aware now. I am so grateful I we shared so many happy times, laughing and sharing so many special times together. I am a stronger person than I have ever been in my life, and this journey has opened my eyes. All is well with my soul, and I am grateful to God for guiding my path. I know I can do all things through Christ.
Thank you all for always being here for me. Your posts are a comfort. I hope I can give some comfort to those of you struggling through this debilitating disease. Wishing you all healing, comfort and faith. Know you too need to fight, believe, cry, vent and ask for help. That was the most difficult for me - asking for help.
With your prayers, and faith, I will get through this PET scan too with flying colors!
Blessing & Love, Patty

Of Course You've Been a Comfort
You may not have made note of it, but I know you've helped many here, because I'm one of them. It's been quite a while since I was a newbie, but you should know that you were one of the folks whose posts helped me along.

I was sorry to hear about you losing your mother, but glad that you had a chance to enjoy her.

I guess it is easier to maintain your weight now. You don't have your soon-to-be-ex pigging on the food you need to eat - that made me crazy.

Hoping for the very best for us on our Monday PETs. I don't get my results til next Friday. When will you get yours?

    Do well.

    Always in my prayers...
Patty, you have always been in my prayers and will continue to be. I pray everyday for all of us who have cancer and add an extra prayer for those starting treatment, awaiting scan results, etc.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mother as I know from your previous posts and from Facebook how close you were. You know she will always be in your heart and she is watching over you now.

About losing your medical insurance when your divorce is finalized...have you discussed with your lawyer about having it written into your divorce agreement that your husband has to continue to provide coverage for you and your two children??? I know this can be done and under the circumstances I think any judge would deem this necessary.

I wish you luck with the divorce and continued good health. I will be saying an extra prayer for you (and everyone with upcoming scans) that you will soon join the NED club.

    Stay well and stay strong,

I know you have been faced with so many challenges during your treatment & recovery but believe me your spirit is amazing. You are doing so great & I wish you my best in your upcoming scan & even though you are in my prayer's each day a few extra sure won't hurt. I am not knowledgable about American divorce law's. However, I truly feel your lawyer must be made aware that health care is one item that is not negotiable. Please speak to him about how necessary ths is to you. You are so strong to be able to handle all of this plus your divorce but thing's can only get better with getting rid of the negativity in your life. Reading your post's through my treatment & recovery helped to keep me going & I truly appreciate all you have given to me & everyone else on CSN.
    God Bless

    Hi Pam!
Thanks for the morning chuckle! Oh yes! I remember the many days of no leftovers for ME!
My disappearing protein/high calorie bars! Lol!
I see it is almost a year since your first treatment. It is 1 1/2 years for me since diagnosed. Boy, has life changed! Of course you will be in my prayers, and all will be well.
I get my results the same day.
Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate your supportive posts. At times, I thought I was alone, and going crazy. I have realized I have made the right decision regarding my almost-ex, although it was the hardest decision I have had to make after 20 years together.
    All the best for Monday!!!!

    Hi Glenna
Thanks for the prayers, and good wishes. I will ask about the medical insurance, especially under these conditions. Thank you.
It is great to be able to correspond with you and other CSN friends daily. Laughter IS the best medicine!
    Prayers Always, Patty
P.S. What the heck is NED?

    Thoughts & Prayers
Morning Patty...you can count on both Shelley and my positive thoughts and prayers for a clean PET, and for the other battles you are dealing with at the moment. Time heals all wounds they say...some longer than others from experience.

Sounds like that Florida vacation might be in order, LOL....

    Best and Always,
    John

    NED
NED is no evidence of disease = no signs of the cancer.

Hoping that is what you hear when you get your results!!!

    Hi Patty
I wish you the best results for your PET scan. (NED, that's too funny, I didn't know what it meant either) I'm glad you have found help with your religion. I pray about 4-5 times a day for all the folks here on CSN, my ailing family members, and myself. I find it helpful to say prayers outloud as I think God can hear me better !!! Keep the faith, time will pass quickly and you'll be totally happy and healthy again.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts here with all of us.
    All the best.

    Next PET
Hi, Patty. I greatly admire your spirit. I wish you the best in your upcoming test. My PET is on the 13th. I am hoping and praying that both of ours comes back clean. Keep on fighting. The only thing worse than losing is giving up.

    Hi Patty
It is nice to hear from you again. I agree with everyone else - talk to the lawyer and get it put in the divorce that he has to pay for the insurance.

    Good Luck on PET
    Hi,

I am new to this board, but have reading posts for quite a while. It is good to have you back posting. I had no idea of all you have been going through. I just want you to know I am thinking of you and wish you the best on your PET on Monday. I DEFINITELY agree with the others to work out something with the health insurance so you remain covered. I really believe it can be done.

Good luck and please let us all here help you through these difficult times.

    Hi Patty
I'm new to this board, too, and have been moved by your post and the feedback from all of those who obviously care for you. God has surrounded you with peace, as well as your friends.

If you cannot get your husband to keep you covered after your divorce, please check out either your state's high risk pool (not sure which state you live in), or check out the federal risk pool for insurance. My husband recently started on our state's risk pool (since he was diagnosed while under COBRA, no other insurance would take him). It's spendy but it's still insurance!

    Sending positive thoughts and prayers!

Hey Patty. :) I will be thinking of you. I have a dentist appointment and an ENT appointment on Monday. I haven't been to the ENT in a very long time. Too long I guess. They screwed up. Anyway. I'm sure I will be poked and proded. :)

    Thinking of you
Hi Patty. I'm having a 14 month PET as well. Mine is Friday Nov. 19. I will be thinking of you on Monday and projecting all the good MOJO I can your way. Hope like me you have been feeling a whole lot like your old self lately. After getting laid off from work awhile ago they called me back about 6 weeks ago. Not my old office position but back outside on a survey crew. I think the layoff coupled with my treatment and then compounded by turning 50(!)I was maybe a step or two short the first couple weeks. Feeling good now though. Anyways best to you on Monday. Let us know.

    Best of luck with PET!
Hoping for the best results. Also, I really like your post; I am trying to let GOD take take the wheel; but some days are harder than others. i am sorry you are going through a divorce. I guess I was so busy being depressed and jealous that I am alone and not married; i hadn't thought about the possibility of having to go through the stress of a unsupportive spouse. Big Hugs 4 U!!!!

I was so happy to hear your good news! Congrats!
Yes, I must say - it has been a "busy" year. Thank you for the post, and I think the almost ex knows he is "skewered" (lol) and I will definitely fight for my insurance. I appreciate your good wishes. Again hooray for your no NED news! Blessings. Patty

Yes, I have the hands of God upon me. I am grateful for all He has given me, all He has taken away. Thanks you for your prayers, as I approach my early Monday morning appointment.
But as I have said, driving into Manhattan, dodging yellow cabs on the FDR Drive, and pedestrians on Madison Avenue will keep my mind off the PET! Hee Hee! It is somewhat like a video game to get there!
I will me eligible for Medicare in 2 years - ugh! - but I am sure somehow, things will work out.
Prayers for your and your husband! Patty
