Was there HIP Pain before Diagnosis?

I had a friend who found out that she was stage four Lung Cancer though she had tried for years to find out what was wrong with her. It took years to get this diagnosis and she didn't live long at all.
She was a very bright woman who did allot of her own research trying to find treatments that would help her though the doctors gave her no hope. She told me she found out that one of the symptoms for her lung cancer was a pain in the arm something she had complained about for those years but they thought something the matter with her heart.
She asked me at the time if I knew what one of the symptoms for breast cancer was and I said NO. She informed me she found that one of the symptoms was HIP PAIN. Wow I almost fainted because I had been suffering with terrible Hip pain for more years than I could count. I am now wondering how many of you suffered with Hip pain and my pain went right through both hips.

    As for me I didn't have hip
    As for me I didn't have hip pain before I was Dx. I didn't have any issues except a bad mammyogram. Sorry I couldn't be more help, Good luck to you. Hugs:) Robbin

    No hip pain but...
    They found out I had arthritis in my left hip from my bone scan.

    I did have hip pain....
    but that was from the first cancer, rectal....or so I think....

    Anyway, I'm thinking (and this is JUST MY thought...I am NOT a doctor, just wash the underwear for one...ROFL!) that breast cancer loves bones...so it may follow that it was testing the waters there....

    Any pain I have, I get checked out. At first, I didn't. Pelvic pain, I wrote off as a long international plane flight with too little padding...turned out to be a tumor in my rectum...sigh...

    BUT for my breast cancer, I had my lump for over 10 years. It was mammo'ed every year, no change, so they figured benign. Also, this was pre-digital mammos. I was sharing how long it took to find my cancer (my tag line is "It took stage III rectal cancer to find my stage II breast cancer!") with the rad tech...she showed me why it got lost. The 'old' xray style couldn't layer and define areas as well as the new digital mammos...she started with my latest. She said "This is the way it would have looked". Pointed to the area where my lump was, it was totally blocked by my implant. "Now look as I change the digital definition". Showed the scar tissue where the tumor had been!!!!

    SOOOOOOO interesting! I'm glad that my industry (I'm in computers) has helped with cancer dx like this...a first-hand example!!!!

    Hmmmm...interesting...I did have hip pain on the left side, BC is on the left side also. I had a x-ray done of the hip. It showed nothing, and the bone scan done after dx showed nothing also. I'll have to do more research, and watch that left hip closely!

    No hip pain here, but I was
    No hip pain here, but I was tired, but then I worked a lot. I also lost my taste for alcohol months before dx. I do have lower back pain and right hip pain now though. Comes and goes. I blame the Aromasin. Oh yea, I never got sick. I worked in a hospital and all the staff would be coughing and sniffling but I wouldn't get it. Didn't get any flu shots either. Good thing cause I needed all those sick days that had built up. I always say I don't deal with the small stuff (colds) just the big stuff (cancer). Something to think about though.

    I had when I slept on the side
    and I am having now.I did not have when I was on Tamoxifen and thought Tamoxifen contributed to my joint and bones improvement. I blame Arimidex and honestly you have scarred me.

    My sympathies to you for the lost of your friend.

    I am confused, did your friend have lung cancer or breast cancer that has metastasize to her lungs? Two different diagnose. Lung cancer has a dry, unproductive cough and shortness of breath. Usually, those diagnose with lung cancer without treatment don't last for years. Lung cancer is one of those that the prognosis is often a death sentence.

    Breast Cancer that metastasize to one's lung and pleura is often a dry, unproductive cough with shortness of breath. I was diagnose in 2008 with that area. I have bone metastasis and that usually is unexplained pain anywhere in your skeleton system. Hip can be one of those places, so can leg, arm, ribs, spine, skull and etc. Breast cancer can metastasize most anywhere.

    Breast cancer may have pain but mostly in the early stages it does not. Not all breast cancer has lumps, lobular is sheets, some has red skin IBC.

    Again, I am sorry for your lost.

    My friend was diagnosed first with lung cancer then later bone. After years of struggling she finally was diagnosed with the lung cancer first. She knew in her soul something was terribly wrong but couldn't get anyone to take her seriously.
    This woman was well put together and even in her last stages she truly didn't look like she was palliative. I guess one could ask what came first?
    I was told constantly that cancer isn't painful and many do not experience pain but there are those who have allot of pain from tumors and should not be dismissed as I have seen done many times.
    I also had a friend that a tumor in her hip and actually was pushing her hip out of the joint yet they forced her to therapy and pushed her to walk till finally her femar broke due to the stress of the tumor.
    I am amazed that after all my years of survival we still are talking about the very same things I went through and I have to wonder if doctors are truly learning anything. I cannot believe that they can still say that Chemo brain does not exist. I still believe too many anti depresants are still being given out instead of understanding the true problems that may exist from actually being treated for our diseases.

    Yes I had and have hip pain
    It fluctuates between left and right side. I go to a chiropractor once every two weeks and it helps. I've had hip pain 14 years before diagnosis. I've had 3 PET Scans and nothing, all clear.

    I didn't have hip pain. What I do remember is being tired. I thought it had to do with being in the 40's club and my body going through some changes. There were times I didn't have energy to stay up past 10pm. Would hit the sack early some nights. Anyhow, that is the main symptom I had. My lump was too small to feel. Mammogram picked it up.

    I never heard of this. I
    I never heard of this. I never had any pain anywhere. Just had the mammogram and got the bad news after they did an ultrasound guided core biopsy.
