Oh My Goodness, I have a raging rash all over my arm that has lymphedema and it is driving me CRAZY! I saw my onco yesterday and he put me on antibiotics to ensure I do not get an infection and has sent me to a skin doctor that I will see tomorrow. He also had me get an untra sound on my tummy to look at my liver, pancreas (loss my sister to pancreatic cancer in 07), kidneys and gall bladder since I have recurring stomach problems. They are thinking that my gall bladder may be having issues, we shall see (all the pressing on my tummy did me no favors today that's for sure.) I go back to see my onco on Wednesday, I am hoping tomorrow the skin doc gives me something to ease up the horrible itching. Oh yeah I also have a cyst growing on my calf that I am supposed to ask the skin doc to remove, I'll let you know how it all goes.

I've had a rash on my hands
I've had a rash on my hands and various other places for three years. I've seen three PCP's and one dermatologist and all I can do is control it. Mine have me putting a steroid cream on it. I hope you get relief!

    Definitely praying for you
As Marcia said, the steroid cream can really help. But my first choice is for the rash to go away and stay away!

    Just a thought or 2 - have
Just a thought or 2 - have you changed the soap you wash your sleeve with? Or perhaps used out of a new bottle - manufacturers do change formulas (or somehow a machine that adds in the ingredients malfunctioned and too much of 'something' got in that batch)? Possibly developed an allergy to something in the sleeve material - allergies can develope from exposure. Probably not the problem but worth thinking about.

    Thoughts and prayers.

to deal with .. have you tried .. corn starch applied with a cotton ball -- It is impossible to move, lift with that ugly rash ..

Thinking of you my friend, and Praying for a quick -- resolve!

    Strength and Courage . . . .

RE... sorry to hear about the skin rash. It's good to hear your doctor is on top of things and has referred you to a skin specialist. I will keep my fingers crossed and send a prayer for you that what he/she prescribes brings you relief. I also will say a prayer for your other symptoms. Big hugs to you.

it sometimes seems like it's never going to end, right! I hope you have a successful visit with the skin dr. I once had a reaction to a medication and I literally scratched my arm raw. I had to go to the hospital to get an antihistamine injection.

    UPDATE
Well the skin doc gave me some good meds that he says should clear it up soon plus an anti itch shot and anti itch pills and to say I am woozy is an understatment. I keep going backspace to correct what I type here.

I also got my cancer markers back and it was lower than last time at 15.3 which is good. Thank you all for you oh so kind words and prayers, hope you all have a great weekend.

    Did they ever figure out
Did they ever figure out what the rash was from?

I have been fighting poison ivy this week--a gardener's worst enemy! To avoid poison ivy, I always wear gloves now and shower after gardening using Lehman's poison ivy soap. It is kind of a scratchy soap and I guess it is good at removing the uroshiol oil, because I haven't had poison ivy in a year.

But I ran out of the soap, didn't use it one lousy time, and boom poison ivy! I am now slathered with cortisone cream.

P.S. I have no monetary connections with Lehman's $7 soap. My daughter gave it to me to try and it seems to work--anecdotal evidence only ;-)

Hi Re, Glad to hear you got
Hi Re, Glad to hear you got some meds for your rash and hope they work quickly. I also have the lymphedema problem and can't do much with the massage therapy as I'm still doing rads so my arm stays swollen most of the time and have to wear the comp. sleeve. I've worn the sleeve so much its wearing down, so will have to get another one soon. There is a group in my area that helps people with purchasing this so I'm going to call them and see if they will help me get a new one. These things cost almost $100 and my insurance doesn't pay the cost. Also very happy to hear that your markers are down. Girl, you deserve some good things happening in your life. You're such a great warrior and survivor. Let us know how you're doing.

Hope they discover the rash cause soon. Itching is no fun and especially on that arm. Good thoughts and prayers it clears soon.
