edited March 2014 in Colorectal Cancer #1
I saw my oncologist today + she gave me the results of the CT scan I had done 2 weeks ago. My previous scan (July) showed minimal growth, so I was worried that this one would show more growth + I would need to change chemo (I am currently on folfiri + avastin). I am considered stable + I will have another scan in ~ 2 months. They are keeping a good eye on me. My onc said that she wants to stretch out each type of treatment as long as possible. Also, my bloodwork was good + I can have chemo on Thursday. This will be the first time I will have 4 treatments of folfiri + avastin in a row (every 2 weeks) without a break. So my questions is, when she says I am "stable", does that only refer to the cancer or can I can I call myself mentally stable also lol?

Mentally Stable, LOL:) Are Any of US?
You are all that - and so much more:)

Sounds like a great report, Anne - so happy to hear the word stable. And it's great when they keep a close eyeball on you - sort of comforting.

    Hey Anne:
Stable is good. George is stable right now and on maintenance chemo. I consider "stable" to be very, very good news. Glad the chemo is working and I sure do hope for you that it continues to do so.

When the doc tell us stable, in the past, I wanted more but have learned that as a Stage IV, stable really is very good news. So, I quit wanting more and take stable as a reason to be happy. If stable for George goes away and things progress, well, we will just deal with it.

So, Ms. Stable, slap on a big grin and go twirl around in front of the mirror.

    Take care - Tina

    Anne Darling!
I'm so boringly, mentally stable that a psychiatrist I used to date said I was the most stable person he knew (should have gotten that in writing). I told him that's because he only gets to see the Hollywood crazies all day that he had as patients and anyone would seem stable compared to them. hahahaha

Being mentally stable is highly over-rated and boring don't ya think? But, being clinically stable is a very good thing! Congratulations on your stability.

    Contrats on being stable!
Contrats on being stable! Cancer of course! Stable in the mind is always optional as far as I am concerned! Somedays yes, somedays no!! You are doing great and it sounds like you are getting good care! Hang in there! Jean

Thanks, I think stable is good too. I think of you + George often; it sounds like you two make a great team. I am so impressed that he has been able to work full time throughout his treatment. We had champagne tonight, so I should be able to do those twirls!

    Thanks Kathy!
I am really happy with stable this time; I was really worried there would more growth after my last scan, but my CEA has gone down since then after going up for a bit.

Thanks! You must be very brave to go out with a psychiatrist; I would been sure he was analyzing me all the time!
