Disappointment

Yesterday would have been my mothers 8th R-CHOP treatment however she had a cold and the Dr. wants to wait another week.

She did not even get blood drawn. I understand it is for the best but mom has had so many disappointments and prolonging the treatment is just another downer.

For me I drive home 6 hours for treatment days, I called work to readjust me schedule for next week and my new boss was short over the phone. Not that I have a choice, I am all she has.

Sorry for venting but I cannot voice this all in the prescense of my mom, she feels bad enough.

Thanks for listening,
Elaine

    DISAPPOINTMENTS
    Elaine,
It is so sad to hear about disappointments. We all have them in this world we live in. Its worse when we are going thru all this stuff. Some things can't be helped, but others are diliberate, like your new boss. Its not that people don't understand. Its they don't want to understand. Its all about me,me,me,me. Makes you wonder how someone with that kind of disposition can be in the postion they are in. Some have no compassion for anyone but themselves. If the shoe was on the other foot then they would want everyone one to understand what they are going thru. You may never say it out loud but these people are total A$$holes. The only thing is they don't even realize it. It is something you never forget when people carry on this way. On the other hand they forget about it right away. Why not, it doesn't affect them any. Now thats the sugar coated version. John

    Thanks
I read all of the posts everyday and live through all the ups and downs, today was my big down but you made me feel much better.

I will take next week in stride and be there to support my mom.

My daughter has been there for me as I went to appointment after appointment and then eventually started and completed treatment.Still not in remission and may need more treatment but it's a waiting game at this point. What a gift to me to have her there for me. And I know your Mom feels the same way. These people who just don't get it (bosses, etc) are just not thinking and do not have the empathy gene. Do your best to get beyond it. They don't even give it a thought as John pointed out. What you are doing for your Mom outweighs anything else. I know that sounds pretty cavalier in light of the economic times and job market but honestly your boss and anyone who knows you can learn a lot from your selflessness and I believe that the good guy always wins. You are a great daughter. Stay the course. God Bless.

Elaine have you tried looking into the Family Leave Act, I believe that if your company employs more then 50 employees then you can take leave without fear of losing your job. I recieved 12 weeks. Vinny

    Thank You
I am taking intermittent family leave and driving myself crazy. I use only 1 day FMLA and then use my 2 days off together. I work retail and my old boss understood, this one I don't think he gets it. I run my self ragged as not to let the store down.

Believe me I know what this has meant to my mom. I lost my father 8 years ago to cancer and was home every day off for a year. Now I guess it my turn to help her.

I do have to say my husband has made this week after my disappointment wonderful. I ran late leaving work, as normal, and he had dinner waiting for me when I walked in. I broke down in tears.

I am now trying to make space for my mom in the house. I do not want to leave her alone in the winter months. She hates the early darkness and I want to keep a close eye on her.

Again Thank You, and I wish all of you the best.
