Can we play Doctor??

I know "playing Doctor" is sometimes not a good idea, but I need some opinions, thoughts, fresh eyes...new blood...however you want to say it. Almost at the end of my rope here.....I will try to keep it short.....

July 09, partial hysterectomy due to endometriosis and cyst on L ovary.

April 2010- started having what I would describe as a stitch in my R side, with crampy pain in Right lower quadrant. CT scan showed large cyst on my ovary.

May 10, remaining (R) ovary removed due to cyst and tortion.

F/U w doc 2 wks post op, told her was still feeling discomfort RLQ and side. Doc suggested colonoscopy, then changed her mind when noted my age (43). Sent me for gallbladder sono. Sono normal.

June -sent for HIDA scan...also within normal limits.

August- Gallbladder removed because still having pain. Doc said no adhesions seen from previous surgeries.

Sept- pain persists, MRI done on lumbar spine, normal. CT scan done to check for kidney stones, no stones found. Normal UA.

Started Physical therapy 2 wks ago. Epidural in lower spine and trigger points upper back, with no relief.

Bruising easily, scratched an itch on my leg and have a hand print where I scratched. Huge bruise on back of my leg with no clue how it got there.... pain always starts in my right side btw ribs and hip bone, radiates to right lower quadrant and over to belly button. When it really starts going the pain goes up my middle back and to my shoulders.

Does not seem related to eating but may be connected to activity as I don't seem to have it until about an hour after I get up...but doesn't stop when I sit or lay. Heat doesn't seem to help anymore.
Tried Lyrica, and maybe I'm not giving it long enough to work, but it's not and I really don't want to take something I don't need. Could be in my head but Left arm kept twitching when I started taking it.

Went back to Doc today and asked her to do chest xray and CBC, PT PTT, should find out tomorrow how those came out.

Hubbys surgeon suggested colonoscopy....so I get to join the team, scheduled for this Sat.

I feel like all thats left is a cell in the looney bin. Getting very discouraged. A little concerned that my Docs are thinking it's just stress, I've given that a lot of thought too, but the pain started before my husbands diagnosis.....

Any thoughts???

But youse gets whats youse pays for!

Ok, how about this? What meds are you on?

With all the side efects of medicines that they never tell you about,
don't ever expect a doctor to tell you it could be a side effect
from a med he's giving you.

A pain in the side can be from the liver or kidney. Bruising easily,
is usually an indication of a kidney problem. And medications
usually effect the liver and kidneys most, since they're the two
organs that are responsible to clean the system of toxins.

There's a real neat website: www.askapatient.com , that has people
like we have here, contributing their experiences regarding medications.

Take a read and see if one of your meds might be causing a
problem like the one you're having.

Good luck, ehh? And call me in the morning.

It seems like you are really getting what we call pecked by Buzzards (not our sweet Buzzard that posts here, but the real ugly kind).
You need to find out if the CT was for Kidneys, Bladder and Ureters. That is a different one than an abdominal CT. What about a PET scan
Also what about CEA levels, liver enzymes, things like that. The CBC should tell you about platelts, might also see about ferritin (iron stores in the bone) You might also want to add an endoscopy to that colonoscopy-just to make sure there is not a problem with the upper digestive thing. Also have the Dr take samples to look for bowel inflamation.

I think you are far from the looney bin just don't give up. Might need to get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion.

Stress: My husband had pain in his side for sometime. This was long before my CA diagnosis, but he was extremely stressed. He took meds, had his gallbladder removed and went through all sorts of tests, but once our little bundle of stress moved away his pain and discomfort was gone. I am not implying your problems are stress but I do believe in a sort of "mind-body" reaction. In other words stress can make you sick with real problems-problems that need to be fixed.

One other thought, a friend had sever pain in the right side- she had diverticulitis-OUCH!!! The colonoscopy will show this if it is there.

    Just a few thoughts.
Let us know how it all goes, will be sending good thoughts etc your way.

On no meds when this started.
Now only pain meds for the pain, and the Lyrica, but not taking that anymore.
Was rockin along fine, healthy, not on daily meds....it's weird.
Will check out that site though, sounds interesting.

    Thank you Jan, you reminded
Thank you Jan, you reminded me, I did have an EGD, no problems there either, Doc did that before he would even talk about taking out gallbladder. I was just sure it was my gallbladder..guess I was wrong.

Just looked at CT, it was for Abdomen and Pelvis without contrast. The one I had last month. The one in April nefore my oopherectomy was the same With contrast.

    I know stress can do a number on your body...I told my oldest daughter that all the grief she put me through last April twisted my ovary...she refuses to take responsibility. (o;
