Here is info about live telethon on tv tonight

"Cancer kills more than 1,500 each day in America, and a total of 8 million people will succumb to the disease this year.

Tonight, hundreds of celebrities will join together for Stand Up To Cancer, a live fundraiser that will unfold across several major television networks (and Bio on cable).
The goal of the fundraiser that's also known as SU2C is to fund groundbreaking research and get new therapies to cancer patients as quickly as possible. The organization funds "dream teams" of clinicians who push the envelope of cancer research.

The hour-long televised event starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Stand Up to Cancer will be co-hosted by "World News" anchor Diane Sawyer, along with fellow evening news anchors Katie Couric and Brian Williams. The event will feature actors, athletes, journalists and musicians, along with musical performances and inspirational stories from survivors. "

    I tried
Yes,the Lord knows I tried to watch the Stand Up For Cancer, my Aunt was watching it in AZ, it came on 8:00 across the time zones, started at 8:00 Pacific time for me.
I couldn't watch it, I tried, I lasted all of 5 minutes, people dedicating it to loved ones in their lives that had passed on? I couldn't deal with it, not quite ready, just cried and then turned on two and half men, felt better on my soul tonight, then the sadness at all those that have lost loved ones through cancer. I just can't stand saying goodbye at the moment one more time to any one dying from cancer. So you all better straighten up and fly right, because for a while, I better not see a one person perishing from this stupid arsed cancer.

    show
I actually was working last night and was taking calls for the show. The people who called in to donate that I talked with were amazing. Even with the terrible state our economy is in the response was overwhelming!

What I really liked was the idea of teams coming together to share knowledge and find new treatments much sooner than in the past. I think they have the right idea there. I really liked hearing about a more targeted approach versus the shotgun approach of current chemo treatments.I hope and pray they will continue on this important research and they get the funding needed to do it.
