Hernia repair

Even though it's not recommended for cancer patients, Jim had hernia repair surgery yesterday and came through with flying colors. No pain, very little swelling, not even discomfort today. It was a good thing we had it scheduled because it was beginning to strangulate and we would have had an emergency situation to deal with very soon. He has to take it easy (we have VERY different ideas on what that means) for a few days, but can do most anything except lift heavy objects after a week. We are very grateful to have this completed since the pain was getting intense and made life even more difficult.

We are looking forward to the next chemo-embolization of the liver tumors next week. This will be the second treatment with one more after this one. The most recent PET scan showed all liver tumors were necrotic, even the ones that have not been treated yet. Nothing "lit up" in the PET scan, except in the liver tumors.

Best news was that the cancer markers that had jumped over 500 pts, dropped by that much in 3 weeks. We are grateful for the encouragement from those on this board and for our family and friends who have given us so much support in the form of prayers and good thoughts.

    Great News!!!!!
    Sally,

Great news that Jim’s hernia repair went well!! Having had that procedure; I can tell you he will be sore for a few days. The dangerous period for me, was when I no longer was very sore and forgot that I was still healing. I tried to do things I should not do, like lift more than 20 pounds or bend over too quickly. I got quickly reminded that I was not completely healed. I hope Jim heals quickly with a minimum of issues.

Also praying the new chemo-embolization regimen continues to be successful.

    Best Regards,
