Today Im going for my 1st mammo and MRI since I was dx back in Sept 09. I've been so nervous for 2wks I've had a few anxiety attacks. Im hoping its only because Im nervous about today, but if it continues after today Im definately going to tt my onc about getting meds for anxiety or something. Why do I feel so scared?

    Lupe,
    I think it is normal

    Lupe,

I think it is normal to be scared, after everything we go through, we have a right to be. I am sending good thoughts and prayers that this first one goes well and the next one will be just a little easier. Positive thoughts your way.

    Hey Lupe,
Keeping our fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted. It is only natural to feel nervous & anxious about the terrible beast coming back. Hugs, Jean

    Just breath...
Lupe i think its pretty normal to be scared about the results and the waiting takes its toll on us...but try your best to relax a little do something to keep your mind off it for awhile...i know its really hard to do...but let us all know how it comes out and so we can hear you dancing with NED!

    Test, wait, and tolls
First we get tested, then we get to wait, and while we wait, we pay the toll of anxiety. It's all normal. I wish I could tell you that "scanxiety" or whatever you wish to call it gets better, but I honestly don't think it does. I hate my yearly mammo, and this year, I get to take another! Even after the MRI! Having said all that, even though it never goes away, the feelings do seem to be managed a little better as we move forward with life. I do hope that after your mammo and MRI you will find something enjoyable to do and let your mind go elsewhere for a bit.

Fingers, toes, eyes, and ankles crossed for good results!

    Hang in there!
    Lupe~

Good luck today. I'm sure everything will be fine.

My first Mammo and MRI is 9/27 and I'm already nervous and scared. Be kind to yourself. Think about what you've been through. To me, it only makes sense that you're scared. I am. I do NOT want to ever have to go through anything like this again. I'm still getting over the side effects from the first time.

The anxiety may last until you get the results. Once you get the results, the anxiety should leave. I know you're going to get great results!

    Hugs to you,
    betsy

    Lupe, Your feelings are so
Lupe, Your feelings are so normal!!!!! Those first tests after treatment are very scary. We have all been there. You have been through so much. It has been a very difficult, scary road and of course you are frightened at the thought of getting bad news.

Try and push it out of your mind. Tell yourself that it is much better to know than to not. I know it is not easy by any means. I am going through a similar situation right now. Hang in there. Soon you will be happy with a clean bill of health! Let us know. Eil

I think its abnormal to NOT
I think its abnormal to NOT be scared. Once bitten twice shy, hoping for great results. My first cancer was not diagnosed by mammo(to young to have one) I felt a lump. So mammos didnt bother me until I started having to have biopsies. then I became more and more anxious. If you have someone with you alittle ativan is a good thing!!!1 let us know looking forward to hearing the good news.

    Have you heard anything?
My first mammo post treatment was this morning and I have no news. It's so frustrating. The tech assured me the results would be faxed to my three doctors by noon today. Nope. Of course, it freaks me out.

Good luck to you (and me:) (Sorry to push my way into your post)

    Totally Normal!
It's only natural to feel anxious at that time. It brings up a lot of unpleasant memories and feelings. You just have to tell yourself everything is going to be fine.

I still get anxious before every mammogram and I'm going on 9 years now! It's just something that is unpleasant and a little nerve racking.

You'll be just fine! Just take a deep breath and try to relaxe!:)

    Blessings,
    Sally

Wishing You Good News from Your Scans
Lupe and Victoria, I'm thinking of you both and hoping for good test results for both of you. Our CSN sisters are calling in clear scans from all over; we'll wait for you two and Eil to add your voices to the all-clear chorus.

Lupe, I can't really add anything to what the other ladies have written about the anxiety and stress of waiting. It does become more manageable as you get more experience with the routine. Of course, Zanax is good, too!

    Lupe,
It is completely normal to feel anxious with this first mammo since dx. I hope that it all went well and that it is behind you and NED and you are dancing.
