I've read several of the statements about celebrities and their link to our cancer and unfortunately what seems to be a lack of involvement. Obviously we can't connect to those people personally but we can help suppport NOCC. If you go to the website you can find out how to contact your state rep/senators to help pass legislation and money to help fight this battle. It would be wonderful to have Angelie Jolie actively involved but let's be proactive where we can be rather than spending our energy wondering why an actress isn't involved with a cancer organziation. It only takes a few minutes to make the Congressional contact.
Yesterday, people were on Capitol Hill advocating for us, let's help them.
Good luck everyone.

    An excellent pro-active
An excellent pro-active suggestion, Linn. That url for the NOCC is www.ovarian.org

I have written to my Congressmen and women, deploring the fact that Medicare will cover Avastin for OC if you life in some states, but not all, even though it is a Federal program. I think that is extremely inequitable and needs to be addressed. (Texas is one of the states where Medicare does not cover Avastin).

President Obama has recently come out with very vocal support for HIV and AIDS research for cures and new treatments. I'm wondering if he is reluctant to do the same for Ovarian Cancer because his mom died from it and he might be perceived as biased.

Some celebs are very passionate about supporting research into diseases that have touched them personally. Robert Redford volunteers and speaks all over the country for SIDS. He and his first wife lost their first child to SIDS over fifty years ago and he has never forgotten the tragedy and the heartbreak.
