Maintenance Rituxan

From what my onc told me with this last relapse Zevalin would limit my options 10-15 years from now so that is why they really didn't think it was a good choice for me. He gave me 4 options. Watch and Wait, Zevalin (which he didn't recommend), some new chemo, and rituxan. I chose Rituxan and he agreed with me that was what he would do too. I wasn't whippy about chemo and we didn't really explore that option too much once he mentioned the Rituxan. I had almost no problem with the rituxan and honestly the familiarity with it swayed me.

Hope you come to a decision soon! Take care and congratulations!!

    Maintenance Rituxan
    Hi Dixiegirl,

I'm undecided, waiting for my onc to send a copy of the June 2010 study on RM. I'm 69, and not in the best of health, so perhaps RM would be easier on me. But then like Mary pointed out, you take the Zevalin and a week later you're done, (hopefully)for a long time, however, the possible side effects scare me. Have you finished the RM or are you still taking it?

    MAINTENANCE RITUXAN
I am not familiar with the zevalin, but I did ask about it yesterday at the center when I got my 2nd round of chemo. One of the onc nurses told me they do not use zelalin because it is radioactive and it has been around about 5-6 years and as it stands now they still lean towards the rituxan as a maintenance drug. Like I was saying I am not familiar and am only relaying what they said. John

    Zevalin
I received Zevalin in April of this year and I have not heard that either. I plan to ask my Hematologist when I go for my appt. at the end of the month. Starting to get anxious about up coming CT scan. Mary

    Wondering
I am wondering if the comment about the options later have anything to do with this being my 3rd time around? Never know. I'll try to remember to ask him when I go for my treatment in September.

If you ask before that please let me know.

    Thanks
