At a sports banquet there are one hundred athletes. Each one is either a football or basketball player. At least one is a football player. Given any two of the athletes, at least one is a basketball player. How many of the athletes are football players?

    My guess is 99 basketball
My guess is 99 basketball players, because in any pairing there is @ least one, but we know there is @ least 1 football player.

    yes: one football player
Because if there were two or more football players, there would be at least one pairing with just two football players and no basketball players, and we are told there is no pair with no basketball players. So the number of football players must be less than two.
