Our Relay for Life was this past Friday and Saturday, what a special event. My husband attended, I didn't expect him to come until the survivor lap, but he showed up about an hour after my youngest daughter and I did and he stayed with me until we both called it a night after the luminaria ceremony at 10:00. He put in at least 6 hours on Friday night and then we went back to relieve our daughter and her boyfriend at 9:00 a.m. On Friday night our daughter and her family (husband and 3 young children), and our future daughter in law also joined us in the relay. Saturday morning our younger son, wife, and baby joined us for some laps. It is truly a family affair. A community event that touches so many lives. It was nice that before a survivor started his/her lap, they had to introduce them self and how long they have been a survivor. It gave my husband so much hope, some of the survivors have celebrated 20 more birthdays! Great news!!!! I just wanted to share with everyone the experience I had this weekend at our first relay! God Bless everyone on this site and suffering from this disease. I will keep all of you in my Prayers. Margaret

    Wonderful
    Margaret,

I'm glad you had such a fabulous Relay experience. I had participated many times before I became a survivor, but once you reach that status, the whole thing takes on a whole new light. It sounds like you had fabulous support for your first Relay!

    *hugs*

    That is Wonderful
This event is so great and this year was the first that I've ever attended or been a part of. So special that hubby and your loved ones were able to be participants in this great event. You just seem to feel so energized by the people and the sponsors. Just want to say thank you to you and hubby and family for participating.

I'm so glad you had a good
I'm so glad you had a good time!! I'm participating in my first ever Relay for Life tomorrow. (Saturday)
My son is joining me as well, he just brought it up when he came for a visit yesterday, I hadn't even told him about it, apparently he saw the Relay for Life banner on my website.
I'm looking forward to it, after yours and a couple of other peeps having talked about how great it was.

    Have fun
Have fun, Winter Marie. I don't know if you are planning on spending the night if yours is an over nighter, but ours was, take some card games for you and your son, and a book to read for your off times. Enjoy, it is very touching. Margaret
