Hi folks,

Unfortunately I will not have much time to be on the forum in the coming days.I have been off chemo 1 month and now cancer has hit my family again. Today my 81 yr old Mother was diagnosed with metastatic lung and possibly throat cancer. Her doctor called me and says surgery is probably out of the question due to several factors. She goes to a pulmonary doc Tuesday who will do some tests including a biopsy.PCP says the CT looks bad and it looks very aggresive. My Dad who is an invalid is at home on Hospice and we are being told that we might have to make other arrangements for him. We have little family, little money...not enough to hire sitters for him around the clock. Ah man, I hate cancer.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up that I am not leaving permanently. Just gotta' do what I gotta' do. I'll try to check in and at least read and keep up on you guys.

Much thanks to all of you...for the support, friendship, encouragement. You all have been such a blessing to me.

Best wishes to each & every one of you.You are all jewels.

-Pat

    Oh, Pat, so sorry
First of all, congratulations on finishing your chemo. I hope you feel better physically very soon. But I am so sorry to learn of your family situation. I am sad for your Mother and your Father, too. May you have strength to heal yourself and help the folks. I sure hope someone, a friend or family member, steps up to help. Are your folks members of a church? You would be amazed at all a church can do to help out. Please post as you can and know that so many on this board will be with you.

    Hugs and Healing,

    Hi Pat

It's always very humbling to find out what everyone elese goes through in their daily lives - it keeps me very grounded and less self absorbed. So many of us have so many challenges to overcome and handle.

I wish you had more resources available, I certainly understand not having an abundance of either.

I can't say anything magical to ease your burdens this morning - I can see the road you are about to walk down and it is troubling, but as a very strong woman, I hope that you can circle the wagons and do what you gotta' do as you said. This is really all that strength and courage is when you boil it all down. And you've got both.

I'll miss you - I'll be dropping off as well in a couple of weeks to do surgery, so we'll both catch each other on the flip-flop, ok?

    All the Best
    Craig

So sorry that you are yet going to go through another battle. This is awful. Please remember to take care of yourself as you are going to go through another roller coaster. You are in my thoughts.

    Home for a minute
Taking the time to catch up on you guys. The last few days have been very hectic. Tomorrow is the day...biopsy and a bunch of other tests for my Mom.I hope the Cat Scan lied...but I am a realist and I am frantically working to make sure my parents are well taken care of.

I realized very quickly that I cannot tend my Dad anymore. Just changing a diaper pulled my guts badly and I am paying the price. I will have to get someone else to do it, huh?

Thanks so much to those of you who replied. It truly helped to know that people care.

Out again for a few days. Y'all take care and be well.
