It's The Little Things That Bring Joy

With all of the enormous physical and mental changes and challenges we deal with in our day-to-day lives, we have found that it's the little things which bring us joy and happiness. As if a window has opened and the view of life is more vivid.

Let's share what "little things" we find in our lives that are uplifting or bring a smile and hopefully we can spread the cheer among ourselves so that we have something to hang onto for those inevitable rough days.

** A warm, sunny day that eases the pain of the neuropathy and gives us hope of recovering those nerve endings

** Our dog brings us one of his toys in hope and anticipation that play time will make us feel better when he knows we are down

** The daffodils and lunch my friend brought over when she knew we had a very rough week

** The daughter who listens with care and concern without offering judgmental opinions

** The twinkle in our granddaughter's eyes when we are able to show up for her soccer game

Things that I like and that cheer me up:

*A phone call, text, or email from someone "just saying hi". I have one friend who will text a Bible verse every week or so & it often seems to just fit for whatever was going on w/ me that day.

*Seeing the clear, blue sky hit the tops of the green trees and hills around where I live.

*Looking at my Shih-tzu's now 2-1/2 wk old puppies- such dependence and satisfaction they get just from their mother caring for them- the cycle of life goes on...

*The lick on the leg my dog just gave me as she walked by me while I'm typing this!

Wow, Lisa - you brought tears to my eyes. The GOOD kind. We still have things to be grateful for and happy about. Shih-tzu's rock! I have two males - Gucci and Giorgio - How adorable those puppies must be.

I have a Shih-tzu too. Lilly! She reads my mind. Full of personality and loves to love and thinks shes the boss of everybody and never gets in her bed at night until all my boys are home from work and in bed themselves, I am sooo lucky to have her.

Any Shih-tzu brings alot of joy! We had ours for 13 years. Jasmine who died last November. Oh, I'll bet those puppies are such a riot. Cutest breed on earth!
I got some joy leaving to come back to the hospital today when I saw several of my beautiful purple Iris flowers had opened up. Even in the rain they were so beautiful.

    the little things
When my really cheerful neighbor calls to see how I'm doing and has to leave a message, I can listen to her beautiful voice as often as I want to!

The memory of my last visit to my grand daughter as she spent about 30 minutes zooming around the living room showing off to me all the things that she could do, looking right at me with the biggest grin as she did them!

When my grand daughter comes to me for comfort when she's upset and mommy's not available

sitting in the warmth of the sun

    Our Kitty
Simon is a stray cat we adopted about 10 years ago. Big cat, about 16 pounds, tall like a dog, well he sleeps in our bed and he loves his toys. Don't know how he knows but most mornings we wake up with 3 toys in our bed, one for each of us.
