Not so good news

I have not been here in a while and i do apologize for that. I wanted to give an update on my dad, and share the not so good news with you all and pray that someone here can give us some "hope"
My dad finished all of his chemo and radiation treatments and did exceptionally well with them. He did not lose his hair and it wasn't until his 2nd round of chemo that he became nauseas and experienced alot of the side effects of chemo. However, all was going well, the surgeon had planned on surgery in about 2 to 3 weeks. Today he received the news from his CT scan and there was a spot found on his liver. A biopsy has not been done yet...if it is cancer, is there any hope for him? I am so devastated, i don't know how to think, feel, or act.

    I'm so sorry. I know exactly how devastated you feel. We got similar news, but with more spots and more mets to lymph nodes and adrenal. See if Radio Therapy Ablation might help with the liver mets. You'll need to go through an Interventional Radiologist. If that won't work, ask about some sort of "spheres" therapy. Won't work for my husband but might for your dad.
    We'll keep praying as we do for all those on this site.

    Dear Shantel,
    So sorry to hear your news. It is identical to my dad's journey. I am sorry to say that my dad did not win this battle once it metasthasized to his liver. But....each person is different. Each person reacts to treatment in a different way. It also depends on the staging. Be happy for the fact that he did so well with treating the ec. Do not jump the gun too early. Wait to hear the stage, and go from there. There are new treatments out there, and William has hit on them all. Do not give up yet. Keep in touch and know that we are here for you and will be praying for you your dad and your family.

    There is always hope, as long as there is breath. God is the only one who knows the number of our days. And miracles happen--some of them are medical miracles.

    The Dickersons can tell you about that--he had mets to liver and lungs and is 7 years out from that.

    So, there is hope.
