DX one year ago today

edited March 2014 in Breast Cancer #1
One year ago today the surgeon told me what I already knew. 11 months later my mammogram came up NED even though I have a large red lump just above the lumpectomy scar which has been there since March. My Oncologist said he wasn't concerned and had me watch it to see if it changed. He then gave me antibiotics but nothing happened. He wanted me to continue to watch it and come back in a month! I went to see my surgeon and I am going in for a biopsy on Friday but am feeling optimistic. She too said she does not think it is a recurrance. If its scar tissue, radiation damage or an infection she will know right away. Hoping for best case scenario which would be infection. She said its possible that the antibiotic will not work even if it is an infection. Whatever it is, it does not belong there so Friday it will be gone.

We love NED. I cant wait to hear those words. I am so happy that whatever it is, it will be gone Friday. I have a seroma (per ultra-sound) that will be removed or drained or whatever they do with those on Friday too. I know they send the tissue to pathology so I too will be waiting and am very optimistic.

As I told you on Facebook, I am here for you. I know the fear of the unknown, but, let's think positive. Wishing you good luck with your biopsy on Friday! We might all just be there with you, watching over you, so, if the room seems crowded...just know that it is just little old us. Praying for good results!

    Tomorrow...
I will keep hopeful thoughts close at heart, Edna. So very many times, here on the board, we've read of lumps/bumps near incision scars... Causing concern and worry. Which I truly wish you didn't have to endure, at all.

Yes - I'll be with you in spirit tomorrow, hoping for the best possible results.

    Kind regards, Susan

Thank you all for the love and support. You are my greatest support network! I feel like I can always come here even when I feel like everyone else is burned out on hearing about my woes!
My surgery is in a couple of hours. Hopefully she will find that it is "nothing" and I can continue to heal and move on!
