I went to Walmart NAKED. Well without a hat. Just me and my little quarter inch of hair. No one really seemed to notice how brave I was trying to be. Missed my support team cheering me on.

This is the new me with my little pink Cancer sunhat

    Hey Donna! What a great
    Hey Donna! What a great experience, the first time out in public without your hair. It is an inspiration to others that you are so brave, and somehow this is something that we are probably more embarassed with than those around us. Short hair is commonplace thse days, and lots of ladies choose to wear their hair that short on purposes. Nonetheless, it took courage, and I am so proud that you took this first step. It's great to not have to put something on your head in order to go out of the house. It only goes up from here. Congratulations! Hugs, Judy

    I take my hat off in public to show someone how the hair growth is coming along but have never just plain gone naked! Good for you! I've ditched the wig but still wear hats out. I love your new hat...you look adorable in it.

    I loved your opening line,
    I loved your opening line, "I went to Walmart's naked." I thought "what a woman". Then I read the rest and then thought "what a courageous and beautiful woman". You have my admiration and thank you for sharing this story. It shows us how strong you are and we can be strong too. Love your look.

    NAKED??!! (tee hee hee) What a thought. Proud of you Donna. I go naked once in a while, but only because I am forgetful, not so much brave. I go naked all the time at home (tee hee hee) Or when I get a Femara Flash I tend to whip off the head cover without thought. My rads were at 11 am daily, and even though I am now done, I have this urge to whip off my shirt at 11 am. So far I have not embarassed myself.

    Really made me laugh. Been over a year and all soreness gone but I got to like those nice soft camis!
    Way to go, taking your shaved head out in public. It deserves to be seen, it's your badge of honor as a warrior! Didn't wear hats and scarves much after I shaved my remaining hair, except for warmth. Just too much trouble, I was trying to just make it through chemo. I think it let people know I wasn't shy talking about my bc. I got a lot of wonderful expressions of support from people I only knew casually.
    We're all so different I guess we shouldn't be surprised our bodies react differently to the nasty things it takes to spike the monster. Hang in there, every day brings you a day closer to your goal!

    Is it rude to smile a knowing smile since those of us have been there can recognize a sister? Would you feel slighted if I smile at you as we pass in public, and would you welcome the smile? I always wonder?

    Always
    Smiles are free and when we receive them we tend to give them back. You never know what story may be hiding behind that smile. Maybe I am a little strange but I tend to talk to strangers when I am in the store shopping. Espically those with cute kids or babies. We have 7 grandkids now and the oldest is almost 20. We also have a great niece that is almost one named Lily. Her mom brings her to visit almost every weekend. I just love to see her smile her little one tooth smile. Cracks me up every time.
