I was watching Extra this afternoon, and they had an interesting discussion with a dr. about this machine that cures cancer. Could this be the hope? Check it out, I don't know much about it, but thought it was pretty interesting.

Check out this link:

    I assume it is informative
As I am a second, no third class citizen with a slow speed dial up connection, I could not view your suggested video. I assume it is informative.

    Hi Donna-
    This looks very

    Hi Donna-
This looks very promising but I'm afraid it may be similar to the treatment I tried to get last month. From what I could learn it is basically the same as the Tomotherapy machine I was hoping to use. Tomotherapy and RapidArc are just name brands of similar technology. It is guided radiation treatment that precisely targets specific tissues (tumor) without the collateral damage. I had a consult a couple weeks ago for Tomotherapy and was discouraged from proceeding with this type of treatment. Here's the breakdown as it was told to me. Standard radiation targets an area for treatment and irradiates everything in it's path. For some cancers this may be life threatening or cause too much collateral damage. This is why these new treatments are beneficial. When you have a specific tumor or tumors that are difficult to access these machines are a Godsend. Unfortunately for colon and rectal cancer they WANT to treat the entire area because of the likelyhood of lymph node involvement and microscpic tissue spread. They prefer the "shotgun" blast compared to the sniper rifle.... Also, the density of the effected organ makes a difference. The prostate can withstand a higher dose of radiation (shortening the duration) and still function whereas the colon and rectum will sustain permanent damage if the dose is too high so they reduce it and give it over a longer period of time. This may help to control some metastatic tumors though. Hey, at least they're making some progress. It's only a matter of time. Anyway, thanks for the link, I love seeing new technology.
