Dreading My First Chemo Tomorrow, May 6

I'm starting to feel better from the masectomy, well enough that I went to the bra shop today and was fitted for the prothesis and masectomy bras. That cheered me up and almost made me feel and look normal. Tomorrow is the day I dread. We have to be at the hospital at 5:30AM for 7:30AM port installation, then recovery and over to my oncologist's office for my first chemo. I didn't catch the cocktail mix and I think my oncologist might have changed it since I was first dxed. I know Taxotere is one part. I'll be taking it every week at a weaker dose than the 3 week cycle dose so hopefully I won't get too weak. I know it accumulates so at the end of the 12 weeks, I'll have the same dosage as the normal cycle. Hope I'll feel well enough to keep up with the discussions and chime in ever so often. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers and for sharing your experiences here. I'm trying to remember all the advise you all have been giving. I know to eat right, drink lots of water, get enough sleep and rest (hopefully I can), and watch out for the big D. Will catch up with everyone later. Happy Mother's Day to all of you.

My best wishes to you for tomorrow...
Chemo is frightening, and your additional health complications make it even more scary - I'm sure. Yet, those issues have obviously been taken into serious consideration - and you'll be watched carefully and closely. Remember that so many of us here - including me - have already been through it.

In addition to all the advice and tips you've read here on the board - I'll add/repeat this one: always openly and honestly communicate with your doctors and nurses. Make sure that you can reach someone by phone, if needed in between treatments/appointments.

With heartfelt hopes your way, and...

    Kind regards, Susan

    Sunrae, you are in surgery
Sunrae, you are in surgery or recovery as I write this. Please know that you are being thought of and I'm hoping for an uneventful chemo infusion as far as side effects are concerned. You've come a long way and the end of treatments is near. Hang in there and we'll be with you every step of the way. Post when you can and Happy Mother's Day to you, too!!

    Best of luck Sunrae
On this new phase of your journey. You are one step closer to the finish line! Just remember that your sisters in pink are with you every step of the way and will always be here for you. Come back often and let us know how you are doing.

Be sure to eat yogurt, Activia or take Acidopholis to help with the big D. I had it bad with the Taxotere. Ask for Lomotil if it gets bad. Its a prescription strenth Immodium AD. IAD did NOTHING for my big D.

    I wish you well!

I am praying that your day goes well. My first chemo was Apr.30th. I am doing taxotere-cytoxan every 21 days. The worst for me has been the big D and it has not been terrible. I am hoping your day is uneventful and passes quickly for you. Happy Mothers Day to you too!

    Sunrae,
    I know you will

    Sunrae,
I know you will catch up with us when you can~I just want to add to the positive thoughts, energy and well-wishes you have alrady gotten from the sisters here on the boards.

This is another part of your journey you are not having to make alone; you already know how much we envelope our Kindred Spirits with hopefully everything they need to make it through every phase of treatment.

Pepper us with questions, concerns, updates as you see the need. And know that we are sending you every loving thought as you move on toward Life After Cancer!
