I colored my half inch of hair

I was so tired of looking at dark gray and white on my head. I decided to try and color it. I used Revlon Colorsilk in light auburn and it turned out great. I think in a few weeks I'll be putting away these wigs, for good I hope. If my daughter was here, I'd post a picture. I can't believe it's been 3 months since chemo ended. It takes a long time to feel better, but I finally feel chemo-free. Just finished #15 rad today, almost half done, so far no effects from that. And I can eat dairy again with no problems. To the girls going through chemo now, you will feel strong and healthy again.

Good for you!! I'm always so happy to hear from people who are done with chemo. I'm starting chemo on Tuesday and losing my hair is freaking me out!! You go, girl!! You give girls like me such hope and something to look forward to.

    white hair!!
I want to use some color on my new "white hair" but have heard that the white hair will pick out the orange in the dye! Not in your case? I was thinking of shaving it again to try to get to the brown strands underneath...I can see them...some of them at least! i am also going throught rads now. I am on #20 out of 33....NEVER thought I'd get here...it has been a long journey! Anyone in the Phoenix area out there??

    Hair!!!
That's great, Laurissa! Gosh, so many that finished around the same time as me seem to be way ahead of me in hair growth. I couldn't even 'think' about dying what I have up there yet. It's growing soooo slow :((

It really is amazing how lousy I felt towards the end of chemo and I imagined I'd never feel myself again, but it's getting better & better and I feel pretty darn good!

Can't wait to see a pic!

    Good for you, laurissa!
Glad you're pleased with your new hair color - even more importantly, glad you're feeling better. :-)

Almost 1/2 way done with rads - woo hoo! I know you can now, for sure, see the flashlights we're all holding at the end of the tunnel for you.

    Kind regards, Susan

    Yeah me too!
Yeah me too! I just colored my little stands a week ago. I had to go with a brown color, but it beats the gray/black stuff I had!! If it will keep growing, I will be out of my wig soon. For some reason, my hair has stopped growing . . . I was shaving ever day under my arms, but now I can go almost a week with out shaving!!! I'm a little freaked out! Maybe it's just stress . . .summer will be here soon!!!

    Laurissa you are so
Laurissa you are so fortunate you have a 1/2 inch of hair growth. I cnat wait to see you as a redhead. I've been thinking about going red, but dont have enough fuzz to do that yet. When I was on taxotere my hair would start growing and then start falling out right after my infusion. Maybe now that chemo is over, 3 weeks already, my hair may really begin to grow with the possibility of some style. I'm sick of wigs and scarfs and it's getting hot in florida. I start rads on May 3. I'm still quite fatigued and cant wait to feel more like myself again. I need to catch up with all you gals who started the same time I did. I'm a little jealous, but so happy you guys are coming along and feeling so much better.

    Yay!!!
So happy for you, Laurissa, and can't wait to see your new pic!

You are right, it feels great to feel like we're finally recovering from the side effects of chemo (You WILL get there too, Natly!). My hair's not there yet, but I am happy to be getting over the fatigue and stomach issues I had with the chemo. I also am starting to feel mostly normal these days, and I'm almost done with rads - 4 more boosters to go.

Let us know when we get to see the new you!

    Gosh girls, I have been
Gosh girls, I have been trying to dye my white 1 and 1/2 inch hair a light blond with no luck...the golden comes out orangy, the ash comes out silver, and the natural came out looking like the white I started with! I get so many compliments on my wig that I wanted to keep the color but it is not working! Anybody have any luck with a platinum blond color?

    Hair growth
Been almost six months since my chemo ended and still not enough hair to go wigless at work. Its long on sides and back, but bangs are too short. I tried dying it my original color of dark brown and it came out a dirty blond...but at least its not gray.

    Laurissa, I love that you
Laurissa, I love that you are happy with your new hair. It is really nice to be in the stage of moving forward. My hair is growing in thick and wavy!!! I really hope the sun will lighten it soon...I don't have the patience to color and Touch up. Just reading on this thread and seeing where we alL are makes me so happy. We all started together and now I feel like we are building back up together too! Natly, hang in there rads will be over before you know it...just in time for summer! Hugs, pitt

My hair dresser told me I can not get back to blonde right now. My blonde wig also get great compliments. She told me any blonde dye I would use right now will turn me a darker gray or bring out the red. We can not use bleach right now. Message me if you want the color I used. It's a light brown, no red and covered the gray and white.

A friend of mine is a beautician and she said that it's tough to achieve the color you want with over-the-counter products on gray hair. I would suggest you consult with a hair stylist if you can. Gosh, I can't wait til I have enough of it to even consider it, lol.

    I feel almost guilty
I went for my second hair trim yesterday. My chemo ended in October and it has grown in so much. It's very wavy and very thick. I've always had body and thickness but not these waves. I've colored it twice and it has come out a nice soft brown with some auburn in it.
It was Nice and Easy Natural Light Carmel Brown. Colored the gray and I've gotten lots of compliments on it.

I know it's frustrating....I hope you all get the look you want SOON!!!

I go wigless with my half
I go wigless with my half inch of hair, i don't care anymore, I'm so happy to have something on my head, I just went for it :) I finished chemo 1-14-10 so just over three months, scared to color it, it's dirty dishwater blonde, no gray, no curl, not thick, same as it used to be :)
    Love and Hugs to all,
