So glad you're almost done. I remember feeling really good the day before and dreading it so bad but then so glad toget it over with and hand over that pump for the last time...
I have read your story before and know you have been through so much. Good luck and God Bless you. Ann

    Good work Kathryn. Oxi has
Good work Kathryn. Oxi has really stuck it to you. Let's hope it's been even more unkind to the cancer. What's the next step? Scans?

    thanks everyone
My last chemo will be April 8-10. I get to be hooked up to my last one for my birthday. Hooray! Weird birthday present.

I will have a PET/CT 4-6 weeks after the last chemo, and bloodwork. If my scans are clear, the port comes out, and then I can go off Coumadin.

We checked my CEA last week - hadn't checked it since it came back down to normal. It was 2! So I'm expecting a clear scan.

After I am off Coumadin for at least a week, I will have a colonoscopy. The first one only got a little way into the sigmoid before hitting that tumor that had me almost fully obstructed - so that was the end. My oncologist said if there is anything large in my colon it will be seen on the scan. But if I have any smaller polyps that don't show uptake on a PET, the only way to take care of those is colonoscopy. And it is quite likely that there could be more polyps since I had one that had already turned into such a big tumor, and my mother has polyps removed at every scope, and my brother had polyps removed at his (younger than me).

The plan was to head to Mexico to celebrate after I get some strength back (at the end of April/beginning of May for my husband's birthday) and before my scan. But I'm afraid that may not happen now. We are a little short on miles for free tickets. We can get one, but not the other. Since the Delta and NW merger, we are sitting with no charter options anymore, higher pricing and worse flight schedules. I thought NW had us landlocked badly - but this is worse. We do not have the choices that most markets have. I haven't had the heart to tell my husband that I don't think we can go. He keeps making reference to "in a month we'll have our toes in the sand." He is on vacation all this week - forced to use it up by the end of the month. It was saved for our annual anniversary trip that never happened. He has worked up to the top and gets 4 weeks of vacation per year. This year he got to use one week for vacation in Mexico, and the other 3 taking care of me during chemo. Not much fun. He needs a break as much as I do.

You're going to do so good!!
I know you can do it. You're one of the strongest women I know! With no oxi, you should be on top of the world!! With all you've gone through... Hell girl, you need a medal!

I really hope your trip becomes a reality! I hope you are able to dip your toes in the sand... somewhere! You BOTH deserve it!
