Hi everyone,

We have been over on the uterine cancer page. I found this web site after coming home from the hospital following getting the news that my wife Betty has ovarian and uterine cancer. That was February 1, 2010.

Since then we have been on a roller coaster up and down. I have met some nice ladies over on the uterine cancer page, but since Betty's uterine cancer was technically removed by surgery, she is undergoing chemo treatment for ovarian cancer.

Betty started her chemo treatment and completed on 21 day cycle; that included IV treatments and peritoneal treatments. For 10 days she was still very tired and battling dehydration and a low grade fever. Last Thursday (3/11) she got her wig and shaved her head. Friday, her temp was climbing and by the time she got to the hospital it was 103. The doctor admitted her and we stayed with her watching her temp climb to 103.9. The doctor ordered a CT contrast scan Saturday and a large abscess (12cm) was located in the abdomen. They drained the abscess and she started feeling better quickly. By Sunday her fever had broken. The doctor removed her peritoneal port Monday.

The abscess is still draining, but the second CT scan today (3/18) showed no mass of infection present. This week's chemo has been pushed back a week, and slightly changed to adjust for the inability to perform the peritoneal treatments.

She is doing well; still tired but refusing to just rest. Her mother is here to help so that is a blessing.

I added photo to personalize the page.

Thanks, Doug & Betty in Colorado

Lots of Friends for you here
Hate the OVCA has hit another sister but you have found a bunch of lovely ladies at this site. I have found that when I am fighting an infection, they usually back off some on the chemo to give one recovery time. There is a lot of waiting with this disease. One has to learn to roll with the punches. Hang in there and you are a wonderful husband to post for your wife. Saundra

    Doug&Betty,
    Nice to meet

    Doug&Betty,

Nice to meet you. You sound like a wonderful husband! It's wonderful that Mom can help too! Most of us have been through the same chemo regimen. I too had an abscess so I can relate!! Good luck with the upcoming treatments.
