I went for my post op xray and consult with the surgeon yesterday. If you remember, she originally thought she was going after 8 or 9 nodules in both lungs. Well, at the last minute, she tells me that she was going to do a clamshell thoracotomy instead of a sternotomy in order to open the chest wider. She ended up taking out a total of 18 nodules. The post op pain was UNREAL. Anyway, yesterday she told me that quite a few od the nodules tested negative for cancer and the one on the lymph node that she was really concerned about tested negative!! All the ones that were malignant were removed with clear margins!! She conferred with my onc and at this point they both feel that no more treatments are needed. I will have scans in 3 months. I do need to ask my onc about the vaccine that he spoke of in the very beginning, but right now...things are looking right good!! Now she did say that she cut really deeply and had to take quite a bit of lung so the pain will be around for a while and my breathing will take time to return to normal, but that is small stuff. I'm so excited and just gave all my thanks and praise to God. And you guys have been irriplaceable. So, two points for us!! We continue to fight together.

-Sheri.

That's wonderful, wonderful news. Praise God INDEED!

Hey, I saw a 'story' saying doctors in Japan or China had done a study that showed removing all the lung nodules in a cc patient who had no liver involvement had a CURE rate that was pretty darn high. I'll see if I can find it again. I mean CURED as in no recurrence.

    Great news, Sheri

Sounds like you have made it through :)

Lung surgery sure does smart though - I remember it as being some of the worst pain I ever experienced as well. I'm 5 months out and still can't get breath as well as before - pain and healing still continues.

Glad the surgeon got all of it - I'll give them a round of thanks along with the surgical team for their expertise in taking care of you - that's wonderful.

Nothing but time now...rest now but keep moving - doing some real life activities helps keep things from getting "stoved up."

Really a great story! 2 points for you :)

So glad to hear that Sheri's good report. I wanted to Praise the Lord in big time. history: dx stage 4 CC 2003, met to liver and Lungs, had colon, liver, lungs resected, and twice herina repair, today, I am healthy told by last week check up with oncology, chest ct scan is still clear from Aug 2007 two wedge resection, Ned since, so, all of you that met to lung or lungs smile, there is a big hope to be Ned and cure.

P.S. my writing is not good, so always read the post, not write. Winnie
