After a very long hard battle, my husband died early this morning in our bed with me by his side. He tried so hard to be here for as long as possible but unfortunatly it wasn't up to him. The children are doing good. Hasn't quite sunk in yet but will slowly. I'm just going on auto pilot now, getting things done that need to be done. The hard grieving will come soon I imagine. He was a wonderful husband, great father, son, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed. We had one of those marriages that was just easy, no hard work we just always wanted to make the other happy, plain and simple. We were truly blessed to have found each other and able to spend 14 wonderful years together. Thanks to everyone on this site for the love and support and I keep praying for all who are still in the fight. Keep fighting!

so so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband....
I have been so moved by your positive attitude through all of this--for many months. I have really respected how your spoke to your children about this and supported your husband so consistently and lovingly. I love how you acknowledged God's divine plan (in this painful journey)---that even though often we don't understand---it is him who is in charge.

I am so sad for you & your children, but know that knowing your husband is no longer in pain is a relief for all of you. I sometimes can't reconcile the terrible shock and sadness of ones' loss---while at the same time we are taught of the wonderful journey our loved one is on with our Lord...

Please stay in touch---I think we all can make a difference in the future in prevention, awareness & research funding for this disease. We at csn will be here---send private email if you wish--- so many "hugs" for you guys

My sympathies go out to you and your family
    Hi Auntie M,
So sorry for your loss. My dad also passed away this week, March 9th. We are in the same grieving boat. Please know that your husband is now at peace. He no longer has to put up this fight. He is no longer in the horrible pain. He and my dad will meet now and compare stories of their long hard battle. We did all we could for them as their caregivers. We did a great job. They did too. They were both great strong fighters. We can never say that we never tried, because we all did. God Bless you your children and your family at this time.

    Hi,

I just read your post and I am deeply saddened by the loss of your husband! My heart goes out to you.

I just recently had to call the Dr.s office to ask a stupid question about the night that Al passed away. My question was did I do enough, was there something else that I could have done differently. I WAS TOLD THAT AFTER THE INITAL SCHOCK WEARS OFF YOU START TO OVER THINK THINGS. DO NOT DO THIS TO YOURSELF!!

You are a wonderful wife and mother, caregiver. Give youself time. Let yourself feel all of the emotions. I know it is difficult with the children they also need to know that it is o.k.
to feel what they are feeling.

I am just starting to get my feet wet and going out and seeing people. The hurt doesn't go away in a day, a week, or even a month and do not let anyone tell you anything different.

    With deepest Sympathies,

    Kathy
