I met with the tumor board at the med center where I had my Endoscopy last week and was told I was stage 3A and given a treatment plan..I decided to switch to UCSF and had all my records faxed there on Friday 3-5-10.Got a call today that the earliest they can see me is 3 weeks away, which will be 7 weeks since an endoscopy and biopsy confirmed EC..Isn't this to long to wait to get treatment started..??I'm really getting scared thinking that the cancer will progress before I start chemo..Please help with any insights you may have,I feel good at the moment and can eat pretty normally if I take my time..I'm just worried about this taking so long..UCSF is a top center and way closer to my home then the 30 miles to the other place..Any insight is appreciated.

I was diagnosed on July 11th of 2006
    I didn't have surgery until late august(22nd)
Since I had smoked, the surgeon wanted to me to get in shape for surgery. I had a THE esophagectomy on Aug 22nd at the Cleveland Clinic and progresed very well. I actually used those weeks in between my diagnosis and surgery to get in shape.
I walked at least a mile a day at the urging of my surgeon to get my lung function up.I was 44 years old at the time of surgery, so I guess I had that going for me..

This isn't for surgery,I haven't had any treatment at all yet,the other Medical center last week recommended Chemo,Radiation and reevaluate after for surgery..What I'm worried about is the time between diagnoses and starting treatment at 2 months..

    Thanks for your Reply
Thanks for your Reply William...I have read most of your posts on this forum and find them very helpful...It looks like I have to wait 3 weeks as I tried everything on the phone today but no getting a change, they did say to keep checking twice a week for cancellations though..UCSF is a great Cancer center so I guess I'm going to wait to see the best..
