kidney counts up

I have been having some pain/pressure in the middle of my back and had a CT last week. There seems to be a tumor or adhesion on the ureter causing impact and bringing up my kidney count. (I know I have heard some of you vets say that it it not always a tumor when it lights up, but this is the first time I've heard that from my doc, as I usually get a PET, and in that case I think it is pretty clear whether it is cancer or not.)
I have an appt. to see the urologist next week, to see if they can put in some stents, but it might be too blocked. There didn't seem to be any other progression of tumors, which was encouraging and the C125A is holding at 132, so I will continue on with that and not add in carbo until we get to the kidney count comes down. It is at 1.31 which isn't that bad, but mine is usually .06 or something.

Have any of you had tumors/adhesions on the urerter? Do adhesions ever un-adhere? know you can function with one kidney but the pain/pressure is annoying.

Kathleen

    Kathleen,

Are you talking about your creatinine?

    Thanks,

It is always something huh? A few years back I had tumor on my adrenal gland and also an enlarged ureter but it is gone and never had to have a stent.. so you never know ... and I know you well hear from other women who have had to get stents and doing fine. The kidney pain is a bothersome pain as it nags at you all the time. Lots of prayers coming your way.

    Check with Dorien
Dorien has been posting about stints, lately. Check with her. She is in Canada.
Sorry to hear about this complication. Yes, adhesions can be a big problem. That is why the surgeon here does not want to enter my abdomen after the three surgeries I have had...appendectomy, gall bladde, and one major debulking. You have had two of those so that is a possibility.
Know that you are in our prayers that the kidney counts come down. I'll post my new results in a new one.

    Thanks gals,
for your encouragement! I was pretty bummed yesterday, just one more thing!!! to deal with. Am doing much better today, and especially after hearing from all my favorite ladies!

Libby, yes, it is the CRE, I am never sure of the spelling, and was too lazy to look it up.

Bonnie, I am encouraged to hear that your ureter is not enlarged anymore. You seem to go through these hardships, come out and keep right on going. Amazing!

I actually had stents 2 years ago when I had tumors pressing on the ureter then. After that I had my major debulk surgery and everything was removed. So, they suspect this is an adhesion. I can't understand why they don't know the difference between an adhesion and cancer. I am not found of the procedure to put the stent thing in, as it is so uncomfortable/painful. In the States they put you out for it, here they don't. I am going to do my best to convince them to put me out, although I will probably have to go into the hospital for the procedure.

    Will keep you posted

    Hi
Sorry to hear about this unfortunate new news. If they did a PET could they tell if it's adhesion or the dreaded C? I think it's a good sign that the CA-125 is holding steady. Sorry about the procedure. How's the weather? Ours is -5 degrees today. Maybe that's an area you can rejoice in. I know, stupid, but something...Have a great weekend. You look great by the way!!

    good news!
I just got back from the hospital, the stent went in no problem, much to my doctor's surprise. I can't tell you how relieved I am!!! Hopefully, this will bring down the CRE. I will get my 6th doxil infusion on Friday, and hopefully get the carbo added in.
I also had bone CT and lung CT today, to rule anything out.
    Thanks for listening,

    happy days
Yes I'm the expert no doubt on stents, nafrostomy tubes the works!! The CRE level is good at 131, mine when they finally had to resort to the nafrostomy tubes (are you sitting for this one) was up to 2000, yes you don't need your glasses. Kathleen you must be in Canada as well, as they didn't put me out for the stents either and I thought I was going to die on that table when he injected the dye. Now I'm on the way to admit myself in the hospital for this stupid bowel obstruction. I will be checking in with you ladies. I am so happy Kathleen that everything went so well for you, two thumbs up girl!!!! Make sure you keep your eyes on those levels, look for signs of extreme tiredness and weight loss as these are signs the the creatine levels are going up. C U guys later on......sniff sniff.......
